I was somewhat curious whether they’d have changed it to make it somewhat distinguishable from base unlimited’s entry ~ We know the cards have two discernible features: the 1999-2000 copyright and the lighter colour shades on the cards ~
It makes sense to call it 4th print regardless of who said it. 4th print = 4th major version printed.
Offcourse there are some pedants out there bitching about that, because it technically isn’t the 4th print run, but I think most of us are able to compute why the title stuck. And the jury is still out.
Just as the people criticizing people for describing 1st ed base and shadowless base as separate entities. Everyone and their mothers know 1st ed base is just Shadowless print run cards with stamps on them. Get over yourselves.
Yeah, even Ludkins spoke of that, given the base went through eight print runs and not four
Even though I’d definitely prefer ‘Base 2000’ - and PSA have used the term in their response to me previously -, it seems as if they’re going with ‘Base Set 1999-2000’ ~
“… something you buy at the hardware store to spray on your boat.”
I definitely agree but terms are inaccurate, as both fail to consider the fact that the cards are lighter in tone as well, the distinction isn’t just copyright based.
Great news! I currently have about 20 Base 2000 cards at PSA (starters and non-holo rares). I sent them in knowing that they wouldn’t get a special designation. Well now they will.
