Confirmed: PSA will recognise Base 2000 [Update 2021]

I think by “community” I mean the same as you. That said, there is definitely a subcommunity that fully appreciates the collectibility of unlimited’s different variants. I’m curious, do you think 1999-2000 or 2000 is more valuable? other variants? For example, for PSA 10 examples there seems to be about a 1:2:7 price ratio for unlimited: shadowless: 1st, respectively.

I am not really too concerned with prices of base 2000 and it is still a niche collectible. They tend to sell for a bit more than regular unlimited, but still for substantial less than shadowless. However, they don’t sell as often as the other variants (because they are more rare) so it is harder to provide some sort of ratio in price between grades.

I couldn’t find a price on PSA 9 Blastoise, which I have actually never seen on ebay(when I’ve been looking).
Seller and I agreed opon 615$
Which where more than the rate of unl. version

Just curious where you’d put Base 2000, alongside 1st edition, Shadowless and unlimited, on the rarity table ~

In a totally unrelated topic: a Base 2000 complete set (used condition) is presently at £500 with 33 bids:

Reallt looks like they are fetching a big premium over unlimited

I think it is well established that regular unlimited is magnitudes more common than all the other variants. People still argue whether shadowless is more rare than 1st edition, so who knows for sure? It becomes even more difficult when comparing with base 2000 because the demand is much lower and less people are actively selling them. So maybe they are not as rare as we think? The rarity and challenge of base 2000 primarily lies in the holos, which makes for a unique situation. I don’t think the non-holos are more rare than 1st edition/shadowless, but that is just my feeling.

Yeah, for example:

Base Set Unlimited (Complete) Excellent/NM - £399.99Base Set Unlimited (Complete) Mint - £1,136

Base Set Shadowless (Complete) LP-Mint - £702

1st Edition Base (Non-Holo) 17-102 NM-Mint - £845Base Set 2000 (Complete) Used condition - £500 and now it’s at £920 (should be interesting to see where it finishes)

I agree, but one also has to factor in that Base 2000 booster boxes (UK and Australian, for example) and the starter box don’t necessarily contain Base 1999-2000 copyrighted-cards. Also, I’ll use an example from @pichufan , as he mentioned last year:

@bartallen2 Yeh… i wouldnt be touching that 4th print set going up for auction.

Nor would I lol ~ But wherever that ends, will that now set a precedent for future prices for a complete set?

Im not saying the set isnt worth that much, because it is. But because of the pattern of private bids the seller has always placed on their auctions on this 1 as well as many auctions in the past, blatant hidden reserves.

I’m not entirely too familiar on private bids and hidden reserves?

Private bidders and making bidding on your item private only makes it look malicious for viewers and potential bidders.

A non-private bidder bought it and it ended at $1,256.39: which puts it over EX/NM complete unlimited and Shadowless, whilst also putting it ahead of recent sales of non-holo 1st Edition base (17-102) at NM - despite that was sold being in used/mixed condition, so only god knows what an EX/NM complete set would go for ~

That’s incedible and really proves the 4th print set gets more love

Absolutely insane some of the prices for PSA 10 common cards:

How are the 9s doing?

The PSA 9’s seem to be ranging from $30-$80, but Charmander and Ivysaur seem to be going beyond the $99 mark - utterly insane.

Also, a PSA 10 Zapdos is currently on sale - should be intriguing to see where it ends:

I’ve opened a box from Poland that had the 2000 holos. If I remember correctly, the wrap had a sticker on the bottom placed there by the polish distributor, indicating that this box was meant for sale in Poland.

The 1999 holos were probably first in line when the boxes were produced. It makes sense that the polish box had the later 1999-2000 version, as the eastern bloc is usually last to the table when it comes to this kind of stuff.

If I were to chase boxes/packs of this stuff now, the UK is one of the last places I’d look. I’d look for items being sold from places like Poland, Greece and the Czech Republic.

Out of curiosity, is there any known reason that these cards were primarily (only?) available in the UK and Australia? If the premise of this question is incorrect, apologies, as I have a very limited understanding of 4th print.
