The CDC recommends the following measures to avoid the spread of COVID-19:
- Getting vaccinated when it's available to you
- Wearing a mask when in public and social distancing is difficult
- Avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces
Obviously any convention with a large number of attendees is not a good idea right now. Unfortunately, this virus and the resulting public health advice have been politicized to the point where any mention of this being a bad idea is met with vitriol from individuals who for some reason believe we are not dealing with a serious health crisis.
As we avoid political debates on the forum, posts arguing over this aspect of the convention have been removed and will continue to be removed. We are not going to litigate this on E4. If you are unsatisfied with the action of a staff member, the correct response is to PM one of us and we will get you an explanation.
Super happy to announce, the states tracking of this event has turned up zero cases of covid or any flu hospital admissions the first 8 days after the event. Even though masks are no longer required in the state still 70% wore them as a personal choice.
The organizers have been given the go ahead to plan Colect-A-Con #2 late July early August. Instead of a 40,000 sq foot event it’ll be minimum 100,000 sq ft. We’ll need it cause for this past one we had over triple out of state attendees and double instate folks than was expected.
It was really amazing and after a year of being sequestered, much needed. Made tons of connections too plus enjoyed some late nights with DBruze, gemmintpokemon, OldSkoolPokemon, RealBreakingNate and others. That Brazilian steak house was out of this world and the Sushi Restaurant in the Jerry Jones Dallas complex was amazing.
On to Houston:)
