Childhood pokemon anime cards fake?

I need a second opinion as I recently recovered my childhood anime cards from Hong Kong. I been collecting these cards periodically and actually have the authentic ones. Upon comparison, my childhood cards looks fake…

Thoughts??

Im by no means an expert, but I do find it odd that there wouldnt be a copyright on the old cards. Alot of cards back in the day didnt have the best QC, so it didnt send as much red flags as the copyright did. I do want to chime in on your husband though because im sure he told you because he cares about you, and if you ever had to sell them you wouldnt want to appear like the villain. Hope someone more knowledgeable can chime in on this though.

I always refer people to @rainbow guide since I think they have highlighted and covered a lot of questions.

I saw the video on your channel @harvvu and I think you already know the consensus that probably the cards might be fake. I say probably because there was another user who posted on Rainbow’s thread and they also claimed that they had pulled every card from vending machines in HK.

If you see the pictures, there seems to be mix of authentic and bootleg (presumably based on the indicators) but they are pretty sure all were pulled from Vending machines. My theory is that the vending machines did have original cards starting out but then just switched over to bootleg copies sometime because it was hard to tell the difference. So people using the vending cards had no indication that these cards might be bootleg.

Just my personal hypothesis.

Cheers!

Hi @mrbubbles , I took a look at the article and it does seem like mine are bootlegs. I got them in a vending machine and from my recollection it was three cards all prism, which seems unlikely if it was a real pack.

The problem I have is that I got a lot of sailor moon cards from those same vending machines so now I have to do some research on their authenticity.:neutral_face::neutral_face::neutral_face:
