I just compared the shadowless and unlimited backgrounds; the difference between these two japanese cards seems much more than that.

Just wondering. I have two Deck B Blastoise already, and I have the urge to find more, but I can’t keep spending that kind of money. I have to space it out a little. I might propose a good offer in the future.

That’s fine with me. I’m going to try my best to get a PSA10 Deck B Blastoise, Wartortle, and Squirtle. That’s my end goal.

That would be a bit easier, and cheaper, than the Blastoises were but I don’t want to jump right in to hardcore collecting again.

I recently received quite a few more cards; only 1 of which was TCG: the 1999-2000 Fourth Print Run Base Set Blastoise.

I took front and back pics of each new card to help differentiate them. I’m currently working on an excel spreadsheet, trying to find a better way to get higher quality pics/scans, and planning how I’ll store/display all of these cards.
Only have 8 Topps cards left to go!
The TCG cards are almost finished too; I’m having some trouble securing a Japanese no-rarity Base Set Blastoise.
I’d be more than willing to pay $75 for a NM/M one if I could find one!

It took me two months to find the Trainer Deck Bs; I hope I can finish before January.
Wow, this is awesome! If you are considering to extend into other languages, I would recommend it!. Its a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing the completed collection. And I agree that those no rarity cards are a pain to get. If you find an Electrode, please let me know! I’ll do the same for the Blastoise.
I may snag some other language cards here and there, but I want to finish English/Japanese first.
I’ll keep an eye out for Electrode!

So you got the no rarity cards of the whole Squirtle evolution set? Congratulations, that is definitely no easy feat! Glad to see these cards getting more recognition
Also, it is interesting to note than in your Japanese Blastoise which has the “different” holo pattern, the font and sizing of text are not the same as the regular card. It’s especially apparent in the numbering in the bottom right corner, and in a variety of other places where the spacing and font are different.
It’s likely a knockoff, how does the card stock and look compare to regular Japanese cards? Same thickness, smoothness, edges, etc. ?
I’ll check on the right now. I can’t believe I never bothered to check before.

The “Alternate Holo” has:
Darker Wartortle
Darker Edges
Bolder Font
The blue/white around the main body of the card is different
Holo is much different
Slight bit more bendable
Different font for the 009 in the bottom corner
Looks like the circle patterns from the holo part continue around the card
The back looks a slight bit less detailed/faded
Slightly less waxy
These suggest a knockoff, but it’s probably the best I’ve ever seen.
