CGC Changed Their Grading Scale & Label

It’s hard to make the text look good for every possible card. The variable font size is not ideal though. Personally I would change the order to be

Pokémon - Year - Language
Set Name - Set Number
Card Name
Variant [ex. Holo, Full art, 1st edition]

So it would look like this:

Pokémon - 2000 - English
Neo Genesis - 14/111
Slowking
Holo, 1st Edition

Pokémon - 2002 - English
Expedition - 6/165
Charizard
Holo

I would also have it set to a font size that allows 5 lines so that if the set name is really long, it can wrap onto the extra line. You wouldn’t need variable text sizes then

This is obviously my own tastes and the changes are pretty small but just wanted to put that out into the world.

You can, but it won’t have the invoice in the box and that could lead to really big delays with processing I would assume

I wonder if there are different font sizes for their sports labels

Yeah I was thinking I could put the submission number in the address line but without the internal form it could be lost. I’m not sure if it is worth it

Why not reach out to CGC customer service and see if they have a solution?

Yeah but no response yet. It would be more on pwcc to include the form, at that point it’s the same as me shipping it

Some of the abbreviations PSA uses on cards are so terrible lol. Reading labels on some Japanese promos is like playing a word puzzle.

I voted No. These are the things that I dislike about the new label.

  • It’s not blue. It doesn’t scream “CGC” to me, but that feeling will probably go away with time.
  • I don’t think adding “Certified Guaranty Company” is helpful or interesting. They previously wrote “CGC Universal Grade,” which I think is more attractive.
  • I hate the inconsistency with font sizing, but that will probably be resolved soon.
  • The backside of the label is not great. If you’re going to include a QR code, please balance it with the CGC verification sticker. Maybe it would look better right-adjusted.

Right side of the back is where the error descriptions go. So they probably thought it looked weird to wedge that in the middle I guess.

The only tricky part about that is that error information is stored on the fifth line

me getting back 200+ card orders with 1-2 10s before they relaxed the grading:

me paying extra for subgrades:

me paying $6.70 to send back the same cards so they can get the same grade they should have gotten but without subgrades:

It’s still one of the most boring unattractive labels Ive seen. At least give it a bit of interest and use a font that doesnt look like Arial narrow. If youre going to use the back at least dont clutter the front with a barcode and serial number. If the label is going to have a antiforgery foil then do something interesting and not have the name/logo again on it right next to the full name spelled out, just the scales would have been fine.

The more I look the less interested I am in CGC going forward.

I really can’t believe why cgc doesn’t produce a different case and label font to suit everyone’s individual qualms it’s just wierd.

Free handling though :exclamation: :exclamation:

I voted yes because I hate basically everything about the old label.

Please someone get psa to change how they do text on their labels. I can live with variable text sizes if it means all the info is actually there

I have many issues with the changes but I don’t have an issue with this :eyes:

All of my slabs are displayed on my wall so every time I see them I am reminded of the pain. Difficult decision for me to make on how I’m going to handle slabs going forward :skull_and_crossbones:
