CGC Changed Their Grading Scale & Label

I’m pretty surprised to hear that. USPS has been lights out for me for last month or so. Everything delivered earlier than expected date both incoming and outgoing. I know this is a jinx but I’ve been very happy with the service.

I’m at 14 percent of messages at that point in time. Seeing that made me think wouldn’t it be great to see a who posts the most weekly table. @pfm a weekly badge for loud and proud although you could title it big mouth or most annoying or similar lol.

Click on the “Users” tab. It has all that you are looking for and more.

@Hannibal first time i hear of temu but i already hate them

@traineramy hearing that doesn’t help with my anxiety that something has happened to my package, ofc the shipping times and policies are probably very different with international shipments but still

Sorry for any added anxiety, I don’t know how it is for international but hoping your packages start moving really soon.

Ofc not blaming you! Mood just swinging between “most likely outcome is that everything is okay and it’ll eventually arrive” and “it’s lost and stolen and the thief will send a letter bomb to my address to make it even worse”

So I finally got CGC shipping my two cards they asked me about wanting to hold back for new labels…

Both cards in two separate orders are being sent back ungraded. The line items in my order have no grades. These were cards I had that came from two different people that I cracked sleeved and submitted. Can’t wait to see what nonsense they give me for my $400+

Can actually see some of the back of the slab now. Can’t seem to be able to link it. It’s on a vid on their IG.
I took a pic.

It looks like the same type of case just a new label. I always did like how their cases felt. About the only good thing going for them

Yeah they’ve kept the case which I liked it’s nice and clear. Also means everything new stacks with everything not new. A case size change would’ve been crappy.

When I came back to the hobby earlier this year their cases was the first thing I saw and thought looked pretty awesome. I never understood the blue gradient labels.

Some people like the frosted PSA cases but that frosted look combined with the super boring labels makes all PSA cards look like they were graded in the 90s to me. I like how the fully transparent acrylic looks against backgrounds.

To be fair to psa they are kind of stuck using something that is now looking really outdated. Cgc had the advantage of creating something for the modern age. If psa kept the size the same maybe they could transition.

I wonder if that’s actually how these companies think though. Switching cases could be a cash cow assuming you have the staff to do the re-holdering. With how prevalent chinese molds of their cases are now I would have figured they would be doing something regardless.

With PSA I think it’s more of them knowing they are the industry leader and don’t want to take risks because of it. Similar to how people often refer to Sony as “arrogant Sony” now in the video game space.

When a company gets stuck in a rut someone else comes along. It happens all the time. Stay relevent or die.

Man it’s so weird though. All of a sudden a 25th 9.5 lugia and a 7th pristine pop up on the pop report out of nowhere on a Saturday and now mine that I was heavily expecting to get 9.5s are coming back ungraded. Either they just completely misunderstood my response emails when they asked if I wanted to hold them for the new labels or I’m putting on my tin foil hat.

Edit Spoke to someone I know who says they had the same thing happen and contacted support. They were told it’s because when new cards in right now are getting 9.5s they are issuing the certs with no grade information until they verify whether the person wanted to hold for a new label or not. Which makes sense because they aren’t going to bother issuing the grade and potentially subs for a card that is never getting a 9.5 label. So hopefully this just means I got 9.5 with both of my cards and they are just behind on getting the cert info populated.

Everyone has that CGC 9.5 fever

I sold a CGC 10 slab on eBay, and it sold for under 40% what a PSA 10 slab sold for. The PSA slab ended 2 hours after the CGC slab ended. Oof
