I am a new member here on e4, and I collect cards in various languages. I was recommended to join e4 to ask questions.
I was wondering if anyone has any cool cards in languages other than English and Japanese? And if anyone has any information about print runs and release information about different European languages.
Feel free to share some of your cards in the comments. Lastly, this is my first post here, so please let me know if this post is not placed in the correct forum.
Currently the main alternative language to Eng and JP is simplified chinese (CS), not to be confounded with traditional chinese.
TPC is serious about gaining ground in China, so this language benefits of many exclusive cards.
It also seems to gain some traction in general, for example in France, they typically sell well because of the lower entry price point, kids and their parents seem to make this arbitrage between price and language accessibility (price usually win)
Welcome! I mainly collect german cards (cuz I live in a german speaking country duh) but I also have some Chinese and Korean cards. These days euopean and american release is mostly on the same days, not sure about chinese/korean.
I have some knowledge with Korean cards and made a database here to track all of the promo cards released in Korea. I update this infrequently when time allows. The posts in the thread then describe the distribution of some of the cards in detail.
Since you collect German cards, may I ask about specifics? I am curious about the German Neo sets, and whether you have any general info about their release or any videos/website I could check?
Thank you for the reply, I very much appreciate it !
I was also hoping to learn more about some of the older WOTC cards in various European languages. Do you have any information or advice on where I might be able to learn more? I have some background info about Russian and Polish cards in my collection, but would love to learn more.
Thank you again for taking the time and the warm welcome
there are definitely people here deep into niche portuguese russian italian german french etc promos and peculiarities…stay here for a while and they should come out of their woods probably they didn’t see your topic because the title is not specific enough
Thanks for the ping haha! I’m into niche EX era stuff myself on top of the hoenn starters. Attached thread is my deep dive into the EX era non English winner stamped cards. Don’t know anything about WOTC unfortunately other than the psyduck promo being a nightmare in non English
Welcome yo the forum. Where are you from? I collect mainly spanish (my language, im from spain) and portuguese. If you want to make your life easier, dont collect these languages
funnily enough I don’t have any Neo cards haha, i don’t know if you have seen this website but i think its the best place to find more info about Neo sets in german. (You might have to use a translator since i dont know if they have an english website) https://www.bisafans.de/sammelkarten/sets/neo/
Hope that helps you! You can also dm me if you have more questions
Hi! I am from Sweden Haha, so I’ve heard! But it is so nice. I just picked up some cool stuff in both the languages and I love it. Although, it is a jungle out there! Any particular era of cards you collect, or those two languages in general?
Thanks for the comment! I appreciate the input. I am still trying to learn a thing or two and find my niche in the hobby. As of now, I seem to be drawn sporadically toward cards in different languages, but I would like to have some more knowledge about their release… it could probably help me focus my collection goals — and save my wallet
Thank you so much! I didn’t know about the website. I feel like it was easier to just stick my head in the sand and collect haphazardly, haha. But reaching out to people here is definitely expanding my knowledge base
Are you the print run expert ? Please, teach me… Any information about Polish, Russian, and German releases? I have some info, but would love to get more input and maybe confirm/reject some of the things I picked up
Feel free to ask me anything about the hoenn starters unfortunately, a lot of information about promo releases (and even some sets in different languages) is still super unknown, even today…releases often aren’t even consistent across groups of languages, especially for gen 1-4 cards.
