BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS SCAM

Hi everyone,

Not sure where this would go, but just came across this.

The person is selling a PICTURE of a base box, not the box itself.

Just wanting to spread the word so no one gets scammed.

Bombard him with questions about the picture. is it digital or printed? Is it a high res image file? Size? If printed is it matted/framed? Title? Year it was taken? What film is it printed on? What’s shipping like - email or mail? then just ghost him.

Already ahead of you, @pokenoob. I’m asking him how it’ll be shipped and what protection they’re offering.

If I recall correctly there was a Judge Judy episode for this exact same scenario. Needless to say the defendant (the seller) lost the case.

People will really do anything to scam others out of money. Wow

Years ago I remember seeing a Judge Judy show or one of those small claims judge shows where the Ebay seller did the same thing with a cell phone. It was a quick judgement in favor of the plaintiff.

How is it a scam? The description is very clear about what you will be receiving

Are you being sarcastic? I hope so

The title literally says Factory sealed base set booster box

The image in the listing is clearly a photo

oh wow, I actually bought something from that seller few months ago. I had no problem with him.

Would ebay actually let this fly if someone bought it thinking it was a box? I know the listing description says it’s just an image, but there’s a clear intent to scam here with the title, price, and photo.

I have to agree with this. It technically isn’t a scam… he/she posts exactly what it is and that it is a picture. They are just waiting for some idiot who doesn’t read the description and honestly won’t get anything out of it anyways. I do agree this listing is f***ing stupid but thats just an opinion.

People try this all the time and I have not yet heard a case where Ebay/paypal does not return the money. What a wast of time for the ”scammer”

While the description is clear, surely the title and listing photos have to be accurate on what you’re offering too. The title and listing photo do not suggest that it’s just a piece of paper with a picture on it, and neither does the price. Of course you can charge what you want for your items, but come on… His title also only has 48 characters, so he could easily fit something like “An Image of A Factory Sealed 1999 Pokemon Base Set Booster Box” and still have 18 characters to spare.

I can’t believe anyone with half a brain would take this stance. Don’t be an ***** brother. It makes you look ******

It’s an attempt to deceive the buyer. It’s a scam.

A scam is an act of decievement. I don’t see how anyone can see this otherwise.
