I’ve ordered 2x booster boxes of Darkness Ablaze with the intention of opening one and keeping one sealed for the collection. My supplier has kind of let me down though by saying they’re running low on stock.
That being said, they also gave me an alternative in which I can get 1x booster box and 36x blister packs (each containing a bonus Rebel Clash/Sword and Shield pack). While it’s nice to have the extra boosters, I don’t really have much interest in those sets.
Anyway, the big question is: what’s my best choice for opening and hitting that Charizard Vmax? Booster box or blister packs?
I’ve heard that you are limited to only 1x vmax per booster box, so I assume the blisters would have better odds?
Take the blister packs. You’re essentially getting 3 booster boxes with that deal, and chances of pulling the gold cards from rebel clash which have decent value
Seems like a no brainer to me. You get three booster boxes for the price of two, and your odds with loose blister packs are as good or better than with booster boxes.
booster boxes have set perimeters with the pulls you can receive, blisters do not. However you can open 3 booster boxes of blisters and get nothing. That is the kind of luck I would have XD However very unlikely, the opposite is also possible, getting many many more pulls than the average.
You’re not limited to only 1 VMax per box. The average pullrate for this set has been right around 1.5 VMax per box. We’ve had some boxes with up to 4, even a box with two Charizard VMax!
Also, the pullrates for the blisters and boxes average out to be the same. The blister packs might feel a lot more swingy (We’ve had 36 pack sequences with 18 Ultra hits, some with two), but after a few thousand it ends up being the same on average. I’d go with the blisters since you get essentially an extra SWSH Box for free.
