Can we reach -100% ??? Find out next week on the Black Label Bubble Thread!
Why do you have such a vendetta against this card? It sucks that gullible people lost thousands of dollars of value on cards that they speculated on.
because some people like seeing others suffer to make themselves feel better about their choices in life.
If you make extremely speculative purchases you should be ok with the fact you could lose a lot of money so itâs hard to be sympathetic to the buyers in this case. Especially when many of the knowledgeable people in the hobby advise against it.
The sellers are the real winners
It just reminds me of people who talk about real estate as an investment but anytime there is a downturn itâs unacceptable and the people who are in bad positions need to be bailed out. If you want to treat it like an investment and are happy to see gains, then you also have to accept you could also lose a lot of money if the market conditions change.
It is quite entertaining to see Umbreon go from $12,000 to now less than half that. I guess theres an element of âI told you soâ, but its moreso just the crazy swing up and then back down almost immediately.
I was typing up a whole message and deleted it cause you basically wrote it lol
I feel no sympathy for someone paying $12k to be the first owner and get the likes on IG. They arenât someone living paycheck to paycheck and buying a $300 card thatâs now worth $30.
I think thereâs a big difference between laughing at someone losing money on a card once and chronically posting the price drop month by month. At that point, youâre beating a dead horse.
I understand your point of view on ânot beating a dead horseâ but these sorts of things should be put on a pedestal as a warning for newer collectors. This isnât me saying âHaHa you lost money â
Itâs me saying âThis is the shit to stay away from. Learn from others mistakes before it costs you the cost of a downpayment on a house!â
That is why I have done similar âwarningsâ in the past such as: Newer Collectors - BE AWARE (Market Research Brillant Stars)
Like @pfm mentioned, if we are comfortable and urged to praise those who âWinâ big on certain graded cards or sell at a market high, we should also be comfortable talking about the losses and mistakes.
I know in text there is a lot of communication lost, but please know these are my intentions. I am honestly just trying to keep this thread alive and update it once in a while. The more eyes on this thread, the better!
I get what youâre saying, but e4 is not comprised of newer collectors and I would argue that 90%+ of us know that Black Label prices are highly speculative.
And to be clear, I enjoy threads like this that poke fun at our mistakes with FOMO buying. It just gets a little old when you rag on the 50 people that buy and shill Black Label Moonbreons, of whom the majority are not on e4.
I still see value in this thread and appreciate all of the time and effort that youâve put into it. If most of the posts will be about a new low price for Black Label Moonbreon, I can also just mute the thread for my account.
This is purely my opinion but I think black label is the most overrated thing in PokĂ©mon next to charizards. And Iâm a charizard guy lol
This seems like a black label thing though. Because the PSA 10 is still selling for 950-1000 daily regardless of the black label price.
I love how every message everyone sends is interpreted in a different way. I mean all of us. I donât view this as anything more than a bit of silliness. I donât view anyone on here having really bad intentions itâs just a fun outlet to put bits out there.
-40% ROI.
Prices are volatile for higher priced cards. Donât think singling out black labels mean anything.
Black labels are the most volatile. That PSA 9 charizard has sold probably hundreds of times between those two price points, over two years. Where a lot of black label cards can have that same price fluctuation in a handful of sales over a couple months.
The psa 9 Charizard has maintained the same relative position in the hobby for 24 years. Basically 100% of the price trend can be explained by the trend in the overall market. You canât say the same about the Umbreon. As smpratte said, the primary indicator for a black label is number sold. The price relies on an artificial rarity that is slowly eroded every time another one is graded
