This is up to you to decide if you want to do it or not. You’re not obligated to sell through payment plans, but if you’re willing it’s actually safer as a seller because the only way it would be done is off eBay. Paypal protection is better on the seller end as they don’t automatically agree with the buyer like eBay does.
You send the individual a PP invoice that allows partcial payments (there’s a check box for this). Or you have the individual send multiple payments (sometimes the invoice doesn’t work, I’m not sure why).
As for sending the package, the key is not to stress on it. It’s just like any other package, if you have multiple packages go missing then yes you should worry. You should also find out what’s causing this to happen so you can avoid it. Otherwise USPS doesn’t really care about the money associated with the package, they’re going to do their job just like any other day. Mistakes happen but if you have insurance you should be good. I would drop it off at a physical location and directly hand it to someone so it gets the first scan (if you’re getting insurance you have to do this anyway).
Really the only way you can get ‘scammed’ is if the buyer tries to pull something funny such as lieing about receiving the wrong items, or shipping you back nothing when they’re given a return shipping label. If that happens there’s ways to get covered, but there’s no reason to worry about that if it’s not happening.
You didn’t mention how much he’d pay down or per month so I’ll assume he’d be willing to pay 2000.00 down and a thousand per month.
If that’s the case I would offer this alternative:
Gift 2000.00 NON REFUNDABLE deposit
Balance due 5 months later in one payment. If not paid, they lose the deposit and you relist.
I’ve done this many times and it always works out. Plus it’s very easy to manage…
I kept talking to the buyer about it and apparently he wants to do it outside of eBay. And I immediately told him that I would not go outside of eBay. And he’s pretty much backed off now. 2 seconds later I get a warning from eBay reminding me about transactions outside of eBay. Like seriously? Did they even read what I wrote?
Did you read what I wrote? You’re totally protected. Zero risk. What more do you want?
Get his email addy then make the arrangements I described. You’ll even save on fees.
Yeah idk, It definitely sounds like a good plan, but I was under the impression that all payments, even gifts, can be reversed if something goes downhill. Like yeah I know what you mean when you say it’s a nonrefundable, but it is actually refundable if the PayPal team does it
Zero risk means you won’t lose money. Plus there’s a deadline on when they can receive a refund.
But f you’re still concerned, ask them to mail a check/money order for the deposit:) This I did once and it was fine.
I said this a few posts up matey OP you won’t lose out doing it this way, if anything goes wrong it’s in your hands whereas through eBay if something goes wrong it’s in the buyer’s hands as seller protection is nothing compared to buyer’s because unfortunately eBay looks at is as there’s plenty of sellers to take other’s place should they go but without the buyers they get no business.
