I’ve just got into a deal for this lot of Best Of Game promos. Would it be wise to open the packs and grade the cards - did anyone have any experience of this?
How many per pack?
There are 8 cards per pack.
If you’re concerned about the financial value of the cards you would have to figure out the value of each pack raw, pre-grade the cards based on their condition and figure out the value of your estimated grade.
For example:
-
We can estimate that your sealed Dark Ivysaur pack is worth about 275 USD based on a recent ebay sale. You can look up more sales using the website 130 Point.
-
We can look up graded sales of Dark Ivysaur Best of Game Promos on TCGfish. Best case scenario your card hits a 10 and it will sale for about 44 USD
-
Calculate the above for each invidual card.
-
Subtract the costs of grading, shipping and insuring each card and you will have an estimated total value.
No matter which on those winners I grade (straight from the packs) I almost never get a 10. while the Ivysaur, Venusaur, Sneasel and Scizor should hit that 10 easier as those “reverse” best of cards.
Would you say its best to sell them sealed? Do you have any idea if they fetch a premium in sealed form? Cheers
Yes I think selling them sealed is fine, perhaps only the Hitmonchan/Electabuzz I would take the risk. No idea if it gives a premium when sealed. Demand is simply there for chan and buzz way more than the others.
