Curious about how big the signed/autographed market is currently, since most of this site seems dead set against autographed cards unless they’re personally collected.
Is that market still thriving currently? How would you go about finding an interested buyer for cards signed by Sugimori? Just posting it on an auction website seems rough vs. finding a couple (even just 2-3) people who may want something like this first.
You can list these on one of the big auction houses (Goldin, PWCC, Heritage Auctions) once authenticated and it will get a bunch of eyes on it and sell no problem in the ~$2-5k range each
Thanks! Is there a particular auction house you’d recommend over the others, whether for fees, visibility, or anything else?
And would you think it’s still worth trying to find a small group of people/community interested in signatures first before listing it with an auction house, or just list it?
Just felt compelled to clarify but the beef is with people who specifically get artist autographs with the intention of reselling them. Most artists are pretty explicit about their desire to not sign things just so they can be resold. That’s why most autos now require a personalization now.
All this makes total sense, and I wholeheartedly agree that scalpers ruin most everything they touch.
In my case, I’ve got a kid on the way and can’t justify holding onto these. Hopefully Sugimori can forgive me.
@smpratte tell me more, seriously. How does it work with you and the site? Is there a webpage explaining some of this? I’m potentially interested, though it’s possible PSA doesn’t send my cards back for another month.
