I have never sent card to be authenticated but as of late and as of many, I got 2 cards for my collection signed by Arita. I made sure that I took the photo of the card and arita (and myself, again as an incredible piece of artefact in my private collection).
I would think of sending these cards with also proof (Photos) that the cards were signed at the time of the event - I see that as a minimal requirement.
I will also send a proof of an invoice of the signing event under my name for this time period.
Last, Of course, I will expect an expert on PSA to validate the signature.
The last step is important but with today technology and know how, one can easily reproduce signature. So I do hope that PSA makes the authentication process credible.
That auction with the signed slab does have the autograph authenticated. The coa is from JSA one of the big three autograph authentication companies.
Psa, Jsa and Beckett.
James spence the head of JSA used to be the top authenticator for PSA until he left and formed JSA.
Beckett tightend up its team in the past couple years pouching Steve Grad ( Psa’s lead authenticator) and other staff.
Psa has lost most of it’s top experts over the years to the point that for an autograph id probably trust the other 2 in authenticating it more accurately.
But the market still values psa especially for pokemon where many collectors arnt very familiar with autograph collecting as a whole or want there autographs all slabbed by the same company that grades there cards.
Pretty neat to get an autograph from the original illustrator of the Poke Card Creator Mudkip! Not sure that I agree with the price, but then again I haven’t seen these come up.
I went to Collect-a-Con Dallas this weekend (my first Con) and was dead set on getting an auto from Erica Schroeder for my girlfriend (my first auto too). My girlfriend is in nursing school and thus could not make it, but she is a huge fan of Nurse Joy and all things Chansey, so I told her I’d at least get her Nurse Joy’s actual autograph. We cracked her PSA 10 Pokemon Center Lady and off I went.
When I was in line I realized I’d be able to get a voice recording too, but when I got to Erica she (heartbroken) said she couldn’t make a recording as Nurse Joy or the Pokemon Company would put her at the bottom of a lake (paraphrasing).
Instead, Erica told me to call my girlfriend and hand her the phone. She then proceeded to speak with my girlfriend about nursing school as Nurse Joy for what felt like 5 minutes. She even talked about how Nurse Joy’s mom (Erica’s mom in real life) was an actual nurse too – totally surreal and amazing moment. I could hear her absolutely beaming over the phone. So so awesome, and so is Erica. And my boyfriend points are officially off the charts.
This is such a sweet and awesome story. Ms. Erica also seems to embody some of the qualities of Nurse Joy in real life. Thanks for sharing the interaction. It put a smile on my face just reading it.
I sent out a few cards to ThePokeHive to get autographed by Michael Haigney. I had a childhood CD promo Snorlax, but unfortunately Mr. Haigney had a brain fart and signed it as a Charmander -_- it now lives in the binder and the others have been sent to PSA. It was not possible for me to go down there and do it in person, and he had a private signing event.
I believe them to be fake as autos are inconsistent and seller has low feedback. The seller is also listing a bunch of other big-name autos (Michael Jordan, Michael Jackson, Dalai Lama, etc.) and all of them have the same description + no third-party auth.
Thought I’d mention so no one accidentally buys one! Linked here.
Interesting. Fwiw, the listing photos seem identical to the ones from May 2020 (like exact same angles). It looks like these photos are also on this site. Not sure of their origin
