Autographed cards direction

Hello everyone! I came across pictures from Chinese social media of signed cards from the previous Kagemaru Himeno signing in Shanghai this year. All the cards signed at this event look amazing, and I have some here to share with you. All the custom artworks looks like something pokemon would commission themselves to use on cards and not just quick sketches you typically see. (There is definitely a love of the custom poncho sketches)

I know Himeno also had a signing in Charlotte, and you can quickly see that the ones then are hard to compare to the level you see here.

I’m curious to see what everyone thinks about these sketches and the direction of Pokémon autograph. Is this a strategy by Pokémon to build up popularity in China fast? Would Himeno do this kind of signing again for her fans? If anyone has other pictures of signed cards from this event, I would love to see them because each is so unique.

Wow, those artworks are stellar. That Reshiram sketch is really well made. Do you happen to know the size of the event or the how many people were allowed to have their cards signed? Given how elaborate these signatures are, it seems like a quite some time is needed for the artist to do them so clean and with this level of detail. I can imagine this will not be possible for a very large signing event. Maybe it was for a group of private collectors?

Thanks for sharing the images.

Cheers!

Here are some more I found that I think people would like to see. Many birthday Pikachus signed as well.

Remember when I put my goal as a Pikachu RC29 signed my Kagemaru Himeno…

Sigh I was so young and stupid back then….

At the moment, I only know that it was a multi-day event in Shanghai. I’m not sure the scale of this event is. I’ve found some information regarding the signings here with translation.

This has little to do with direction from Pokemon and more to do with Himeno being very happy to please her fans.

I thought there were rules or restrictions in place that prevented this level of artistry in relation to pokemon being drawn in non-traditional ways.

pokemon company marketing

please her fans

get her bag to capitalize on avarice culture

Maybe more parts one or the other in some blend.

Money speaks. China and Malaysia have been offering lots and lots of money to artists to sign public and privately (so I hear ).

There are still restrictions mainly on newer artists, that I found out first-hand and second-hand.

Damn, that artwork for the event is so good. I wonder if she will auction it off like she did for Honolulu.
