Are $11,000+ Base Set boxes the new normal?

This won’t drop prices. The boxes would be bought when they are listed if they’re listed at a panic price. There’s too much demand and money in this hobby for first ed wotc boxes to drop significantly.

I am a baby tiny fish and I’m ready to buy if there is a significant retrace in box prices back to $100-150/pack.

It won’t happen though. Good thing about boxes is they’re protected in layers. You have the box price to justify itself, price of single unweighed packs to justify the box price, price of PSA 10 chase cards from that set to justify the price, etc.

Now that I have been working for a year post college and have spending money I wish prices were still $100/pack :/. I’m lucky to have seven

I’ve had offers at $10,000 or higher from seventeen different Ebay users in the last two months.

Edit: Make that eighteen now.

I think this is the new normal for sure

Even if there is a market correction coming, I still don’t see these boxes going for anything under 10k

I think in the last couple of years way too many of these unlimited boxes have been opened for YouTube Channels, social media channels, eBayers selling loose packs, people grading packs, and people opening packs hunting for those psa 9-10 holo cards. I think the number of sealed boxes still out there is significantly lower now than it ever was before, which is why I don’t see these boxes ever selling for 2-3k ever again

The people buying in at these lower prices 10, 5 or even 2 years ago are 10, 5 and 2 years further into their lives and careers, which would means they likely are earning more and in an even better financial position. Plus, if people brought in at these low prices and have not sold them off already, that suggests they are in a strong financial position.
