I stumbled accross this article today, it’s about a fan-made app that allows you to play Yu-Gi-Oh battles in real life. How cool would this be for the Pokémon TCG

Won’t happen. Pokemon protects their property with an iron fist, MTG is the same. Konami is much more linient and allows third party individuals to use their content to create cool things like this. This is why you can find sites that allow you to do Yugioh battles for free but you won’t find one for Pokemon.
But if they could, it would be pretty sweet.
