@nightvulture It’s not third party Lego. You purchase it through the Lego website, all Lego pieces, Lego branded box etc (though not on the front, hence your confusion if you’ve not seen before).
Bricklink is basically a Lego only online marketplace that’s been around for 25 years, but it was bought out by Lego Group a few years back.
If you’re familiar with the Lego Ideas line, they do something very similar on Bricklink called the Bricklink Designer Program (BDP) where fans vote on submitted sets, and a couple of times a year they release a drop of five sets.
From my understanding, it’s Lego’s way of getting more intricate and niche interest product out to market with less investment, the main differences between BDP and Lego Ideas products are:
No submissions based on existing IP, all original ideas.
Sets have to be made from entirely in-production pieces, they won’t dust off an old mould or make a new piece for them (but they do come with newly created sticker sheets).
You don’t get any instructions in the box, you have to download PDF.
They are only sold online via limited time drops (usually sell out in hours but they changed it up for this most recent series and you had a week or so), you’ll never find them in store.

Knew of brick link but had no idea it was actually under the Lego umbrella. Figured it was some 40yo kid in his moms basement with too many legos😅

I’ve been a fan of bricklink for a long time - seeing lego bringing it into the fold makes sense, to me. And the designer program is just icing on the cake, there are some really original and unique sets coming out of it that are a joy to build.
I saw this lego van gogh sunflowers set being displayed in a store and totally fell in love with it, it will definitely be something i’ll be getting relatively soon even if we are not on the same page with my wife about displaying it too somewhere in our home

Aaaaand that relatively soon happened already as the set got a nice discount on black friday 
that thing is really massive, going to be the biggest lego i’ve ever built! (Whenever i actually have proper time for that)

I bought this one almost a year ago but managed to build it only recently, it was surprisingly good looking one in a level that i’m planning to display it somewhere at some point. I did however already almost destroy it as i forgot it has a pullback engine and placed it carelessly on a shelf and while dragging it a little and it tried to sprint off the edge

Seems like I forgot to post this, but near the start of this year I’ve bought this Kingfisher Lego set. The build took longer than expected due to loads of 1x1 blocks, but it’s another nice piece for my living room.
PS: for anyone wondering why it blocks the view of the TV, that TV is just to fill up space until I’ve thought of a better replacement and I don’t even use it.
