Any Other Fisherman Out There in Poke Collecting World?

I’ll fish for anything, I don’t care what I catch, it’s all fun. Catching salmon, brown trout and steelhead when they come out of the lake is my favorite though.

My brother used to fish back in the day. I remember in the summer he would get up, fish, and come back home before I would be out of bed. I fished casually a bit. I had a friend who lived on a lake. We would take his canoe out, mostly catch bass and bluegill. There were a few massive grass carp close to shore, always saw their fins but never had the right bait. Oh a lake in my area had some alligator gars. I remember my brother telling me about them. I may have gone swimming in said lake in High School.

Well if you ever decide to go try to catch one of those carp - try corn or a bread ball. Throw a bunch of corn in to get em close and then wait it out. The alligator gar can grow HUGE. 5+ feet long and start to actually look like an alligator. Cool fish. They would never touch you though - they key on dead fish and injured fish mostly kind of like a shark.

Grew up on a farm in southern Kentucky before moving up to Cincinnati. The only thing we had to do was fish at our lake. Every time I go back to my hometown, I make sure to stop by and cast a few lines out. Never gets old catching blue gill, crappie, bass, and catfish.

Pond/small lake fishing in the country can be quite peaceful. Everytime I’m driving through the Georgia countryside I catch myself staring at all the ponds and wishing the owner would let me fish them haha. Those 4 species kind of make up the majority of ponds which makes catching something a bit rarer kind of cool!

I’m like to fish. Just set my line and put a good sinker and bobber on the line and grasshopper on my hook and just wait for bites. Mostly catfish, perch, and the occasional turtle and stick fish. I do catch and release. Waters here aren’t safe to eat anything out of.

Where are you located at that the waters aren’t safe? And I’m unfamiliar with a stick fish. Is that the same thing that we call a Gar?

Stick fish is the big long branch I tend to hook with my line lol
