Saw some people who used to collect CS:GO skins here. Does anyone else have cool skins? Personally I am a blue gem FiveseveN collector, I beleive I have the 3rd or 4th best collection of blue gem FiveseveN’s in the world!
I’m not really a collector, more of a semi-investor i’d say, but I really enjoy csgo skins and have a decent loadout, at least imo. The prices that are being paid for some of the blue gems are just insane to me.
Used to have a lot lot more but sold out years ago towards the peak of cs hysteria a bit before overwatch came out and it was topping everything on twitch
I kept an ibp Holo redline with the sticker on the best placement (wood)
And 2 gem five sevens
Still prob have hundreds of pictures of FN crimson web, full gem Kara’s, dragonlores etc from when I traded all the time
I was ow banned a year ago. That put a halt on my collection lol
For anyone interested: I did not cheat and wasn’t even that good (smfc). Nowadays I cringe when I see people with expensive skins (yeah, I still play occasionally).
I was a massive blue gem collector.
Owned multiple #661 AKs including the only one with 4x kato 14 Holo. Also multiple Karambits with 85-90% blue. Unfortunately I traded them away when they weren’t crazy prices as today. I remember the last AK 661 I traded and I got value worth 1200 keys. Also was the owner of the #1 m9 sapphire and I traded that for 1000 keys. Won’t even talk about howls and lores. I made great profit on all of them but who knew they would become this expensive.
I must have cashed out like 7k and opened like 2000 cases just for the fuck of it. I have 0 regrets though. I travelled a lot with that money and also met the girl of my life during my travels. My entire life would be different without csgo. I owe a lot to it! I started it all with only a $50 inventory and this was way back when csgo started.
Right now I still own a good $5k in my inventory (but I invested a lot of my own money again) but I just have some kato 15 Holos now Some kato 15 capsules. Also my inventory has a basic knife and spearmint gloves and some basic play skins. Also have a few 4x kato 15 skins. It’s getting harder and harder to trade these days though. It’s not the same as before. The csgotrade reddit is filled with kato 15 skins and stores with 50x knives and people just looking to make a few bucks and undervalue everything.
Long story short, I have grown out of the trading element these days. Just isn’t worth my time. If I like something I just buy it. Still have some amount of investments. The future still looks bright but there’s always the long term fear of a “new” csgo in 5 years? 10 years? One code away from valve screwing everyone over, etc. But yeah for the short term of under 5 years I think we are strong. The much awaited source update should also bring more hype and players back.
Yeah man I feel you. I had a MW 661 Scar, FN Dragon Lore, Blue Gem Karambit, Max Fade Glocks and Karambits, the entire tier 1 pattern list for Ak Case hardeneds and the whole shebang. I cashed out like $3000 and kept the money. Now if I had my peak inventory it would’ve been worth over $50k easily. And yeah with the addition of Buff market place /r/GlobalOffensiveTrade is worthless. It is basically csgo lounge 2.0. I just buy the things I like as well, vanilla knives, stickers etc. I learned so much of the business aspect that really translated well to pokemon.
Best not to dwell in the past too much. We could only take decisions based on the information we had available at that time. Hindsight is always 20/20. Also while buff is the biggest marketplace, and I personally love their interface especially with the sticker search options, it is still very inaccessible to the “average everyday user” . The day something similar comes for the western world where people can use PayPal/CC/Crypto to make purchases and withdraw like bitskins we should see an even bigger boom in trading. I hope someone somewhere is developing something similar to buff. For now the only way to use it to sell items and get funds which is what I have done. The only reason the global offensive trade is still worth visiting is because of the human element. You can discuss a deal, a trade, etc and don’t have to deal with a marketplace. Both have their pros and cons but I’m definitely looking forward to a revolutionary website along the lines of a mix between buff and lounge where users can talk and it can be a markertplace as well. If only it was a perfect world (pun not intended haha)
I like Counter Strike a lot but don’t play it much but there’s a lot of cool shit in this thread – definitely put screenshots if you have them. IMO there’s nothing better than a clean Ultraviolet knife but that’s just me.
Very similar to what happened to me when i used to play except i came from Pokemon and translated it to CSGO but eventually cashed out at a few thousand and moved out (don’t really have time to play anymore).
I used to showcase the cool skins i managed to trade up to on my youtube just for fun (never had any ads or anything). My starting goal was a Karambit Crimson Web Factory New and by the time i got that i had pretty much owned every knife there was at the time.
I managed to get my hands on a Blue gem karambit too, at the time i think it was only around 1/4 in the game with that pattern. Fun times
My favorite memory from cs go was buying 4 ak case hardeneds off the market, betting them on a practically guaranteed match, and then withdraw/cancelling them over and over until I finally got lucky and got a blue gem(this was way before the market for them exploded but they were still more expensive than traditional patterns and they were cool asf ofc)
I feel for the poor lad that accidentally bet that on a match and thought he would receive that exact skin back lol
