Another Buyer to Block

If someone wants to message me the information I can see If it matches the account. Judging by the ip and registered email I don’t think it’s the same person. Also the scammer was selling switch video games from the us. The E4 account email and every ip address pings out of Europe.

This is a scammer who happens to have the same name I picked here. I chose this name because this is what I am: a professor. I do not want to be associated with that person in any way, and I thank @smpratte for quickly responding to that matter. I am collector from Germany, collecting German cards. Ofc, if more info is needed, I am happy to send that info to @smpratte.

I figured you were different and didn’t want anyone to assume otherwise without any proof! Glad you clarified it yourself!

Unreal how people think it’s ok to steal via chargeback like this. Hope they throw the book at this guy

No worries, i kinda figured you weren’t the same person because “Pokemon Professor” is fairly common nomenclature in Pokemon lol.

And like Scott said, you were pinging out of Europe.

Alternative possibility: Their account has been hacked, and the attacker has altered payment info hoping for a quick drop in their bank account before the account gets frozen.

This seems less likely, but it’s a thought. I still blocked the ebay account.

This is a good one.

I yet have to find a university that is willing to hire me in ‘Pokemon Science’. And if such a position comes up, I bet that many here will be more qualified than I am :upside_down_face:

I did not know people can make their feedback private. What’s the point of feedback if the person can just make it private?

Sellers who leave buyers feedback on eBay can’t leave a negative feedback, so I’ve often seen positive feedback but they’d leave details in their comments. But with private feedback, that completely silences any warnings

An annoying update; the chargeback on me was successful and his payment institution refunded him the money.

I now have to appeal the decision to ebay and fight to get my money back…

I assume I’ll be covered, however you never know, companies don’t enjoy handing over thousands of dollars.

They won my dispute as well. I’m covered under ebay’s seller protection so you should be fine. Absolutely ridiculous that this individual was able to pull this off.

it’s really sickening to see him so brazenly steal tens of thousands of dollars and seemingly get away with it.

For what it’s worth, this can (and should) be filed in a police report. It looks like multiple e4 members have proof that this behavior is indeed fraud and is in the realm of a Class C felony with potential for a Class B felony in Alaska. I would encourage the victims here to work together and provide evidence to the police in the buyer’s city in Alaska.

It goes without saying, but please do not dox this person on e4.

He won the one against me too, despite card going thru authenticity AND him leaving a positive feedback.
Actually quite amazing that he was able to pull this off, effectively stealing tens of thousands in plain sight.

Scammer of the century until he lists them on ebay to sell.
It might be a good idea to put them all in one easy place with good pics so we can all keep an eye out. Maybe a thread for cards to watch out for.

I don’t get how this even worked though. Does t eBay usually open up a return if there is a chargeback? They don’t actually just refund the money and let them keep the card right?

How were they allowed to open a case with authenticity?! The sale should be final after authenticated, unless you offer returns and they opened it within that window.

I understand that banks set aside hundreds of millions of dollars for loss provisions for fraudsters but this shows they just don’t actually care because 2 seconds of due diligence would save them thousands. It’s a great thing most people are good
