3D Printing Projects

I’m always on the hunt for a new Pokémon to print so I figured I would update this thread when I get another project finished. If you love 3D printing share your projects as well as any tips and tricks!

The dude has arrived…..28” wingspan and a little over a foot tall.

Here are some progress pics along the way.

Filament:

Black PLA+ for the body - I knew there would be post processing so cheap filament that will be painted is the way to go.

Matte PLA for the tongue and eyes since I could print these in their colors without post processing

The start:

Printed and dry fit to get an idea of how it looks

Sanded and primed prior to assembly:

Assembled and prepped for paint

Found this awesome stone texture paint that really sells the look of granite on the dude.

Almost there….

Finale

Little sneak peek of a non-Pokémon project I’m about to jump into post processing for….

These are amazing!!

I would love one day to have as life size marill one! Are they expensive to make? (I have 0 experience with this)

They aren’t bad cost wise to make they just take time occasionally if you have to postprocess and paint. The Togepi was printed in its colors with no painting or processing and probably cost ~$15 in material.

The Geodude was probably $15-$20 in printing material and is way bigger than the Togepi but the filament was cheaper that was used. Additional costs like paint will vary as well. Probably $30 all in for the Geodude not accounting for time spent on sanding and assembly.

The colors look so good and the texture/finish on the Geodude looks pro!

How long did it take to print the Geodude and the Togepi?

Wow these are incredible! They don’t look like 3D prints which is the hardest part about 3D printing lol

Thank you! I really love how the Geodude came out…I was torn between going that gray granite color vs the tan stone route.

Geodude was probably ~24hrs worth of print time and the Togepi was I think ~35hrs due to the shells texture.

These are all amazing @emseasqrd! I dont have any specific ways to help since i still want to try learning 3d design and printing, but I went to a library that was doing an event for kids where they had to find 3d printed eeveelutions around the library along with a couple decoys. Really nicely done models, matching pokeballs, really difficult to find without hints.

Decided to do a simple Diglett and just finished it up. For the base I pulled out my Warhammer terrain basing materials to make the ground a little more realistic.
