$350 Million + SCAM FAKE Sports Memorabilia Craziness - Confession & Suicide

Last night while perusing YouTube, I came across this video and it blew my mind. The scale this guy took his scam to is unheard of and has absolutely stunned the sports marketplace.

In the end, he had been using AI & Autopens to fake the signatures and was able to fool the majority with is fake authentication letters, stickers, etc.

Do you think this has bled into the Pokemon scene with all the fake signatures popping up recently?

if you didn’t see the person sign it yourself there is no guarantee its authentic

The article is light on details- why did he confess out of the blue or did someone discover the scam prompting the confession?

All this does is probably hammer the final nail in the coffin for artist signatures on cards in Pokemon.

Fake signatures have been around for years now in Pokemon. It’s just a matter of them actually being uncovered. I don’t touch autos with a ten foot pole because not even grading companies have been able to catch many of these fakes.

As always, there will always be bad actors attracted to the hobby if money is to be made. And I think we will only see more of it as more people realize how easy it is to fake an auto and even to get it graded.

wow a news site that didn’t nuke its comments section 10 years ago? Anyhow this one stood out

I was into the sports memorabilia world since the late 1970’s and always avoided autographs. Based on my experience, most autographs are fraudulent regardless of authenticating company used to verify it. It’s well known the authenticating companies will give more leeway on questionable items because they don’t want to lose the customer and by doing so they contributed to the amount of fraudulent items that are sold.

I had heard that most of the signatures on everything in the 90s is basically all fake because of one person flooding the market with fakes. Something like that.

Its not often such a thing happens to expose fraud. We needed PFM to do forensics on cards to discover the biggest scam in pokemon card history that I’m aware of(certainly more than the logan paul case right?). And here we get a man who just self report and self deletes.

He stole a third of a billion dollars from innocent people. And now that its all exposed, I don’t know what happens from here for sports stuff. Good Riddance. he’s hanging out with the morning star now.
