Hawaii Worlds (smaller convention center) partially explains the higher than usual Championship Points requirement for competitors to qualify for the event. Might even have vibes similar to 2018 or earlier events.
Wow, is the qualification CP really or even partially based on the size of the venue? It is pretty interesting. I usually though it was more to do with shift in the way the game was played or post 2018, due to Covid. Do you think they are simply reverting to the scheme they had pre-Covid times?
Cheers!
I will be there
Mostly at the beach though
Seeing the announcement live was really cool. Hopefully the people in Hawaii recover from the disaster and everyone can enjoy worlds next year.
whats the dates of the event? I cant find it anywhere, i want to book my shit
Usually gets announced in February
Hm pokichloe mentioned on stream she booked her flight and hotel. That would assume she already knows the dates, i wonder what they are
Maybe she just booked the entire month!
I will book the entire month then just alter dates later.
Ohh ok gotcha
I used chatgpt to get me an estimate of the likelihood of dates:
Based on the dates you’ve provided, here’s a breakdown of whether each set falls on a weekend:
- August 20 to 22, 2004: Saturday to Monday
- August 19 to 21, 2005: Friday to Sunday
- August 18 to 20, 2006: Friday to Sunday
- August 10 to 12, 2007: Friday to Sunday
- August 15 to 17, 2008: Friday to Sunday
- August 13 to 15, 2009: Thursday to Saturday
- August 13 to 15, 2010: Friday to Sunday
- August 12 to 14, 2011: Friday to Sunday
- August 13 to 15, 2012: Monday to Wednesday
- August 9 to 11, 2013: Friday to Sunday
- August 15 to 17, 2014: Friday to Sunday
- August 21 to 23, 2015: Friday to Sunday
- August 19 to 21, 2016: Friday to Sunday
- August 18 to 20, 2017: Friday to Sunday
- August 24 to 26, 2018: Friday to Sunday
- August 16 to 19, 2019: Friday to Monday
- August 18 to 21, 2022: Thursday to Sunday
- August 11 to 13, 2023: Friday to Sunday
From this breakdown, it seems that most of the sets of dates fall on weekends, particularly Fridays to Sundays. This might indicate a preference for scheduling this event or activity during weekends. If this pattern continues, there’s a higher likelihood that the next event could fall on a weekend as well, possibly within the range of August 13th to 15th, 2024.
Like usual chatgpt is wrong, and the likely dates are 16-19th
The dates are almost certainly 16th to 19th, as that is when the hotel attached to the convention centre is all booked out
Random question but when is the best time to book airfare? Do you get cheaper prices on certain days/times, or does it not matter and booking a year in advance is better then 6 months?
The Honolulu Convention Center is booked the 23-24th.
Can we please speculate :') I want to book things
This got bumped and I was hoping dates were announced
I’m curious why dates weren’t announced on Pokemon Day, it seems like in the past they’ve been available by then, or sooner?
Have they been announced in March- or later before?
In the previous worlds at Hawaii, were they always at the Honolulu Convention Center?
Additionally, I googled the Made in Hawaii Festival and it seems to be a real thing. How can those dates be for Pokemon??
I think what @mthursty was implying was those dates can’t be the weekend for Pokemon since the CC will be booked.
And the 3 previous worlds in Hawaii were on the big island, this will be the first in Honolulu.
Edit to clarify that the TMBs were in Honolulu, held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village
Supposedly during the closing ceremony of EUIC,
“EUIC’s closing ceremonies will start on Sunday, April 7th, at 5:30 PM local time. This will be Sunday morning in America.”
