2016 Ice Hockey World Championship

Yay, 5-1 victory from Denmark! 2nd period was really close but then goals just started coming.

Congratulations to United States winning Czech 2-1 after overtime and penalty shootout.

Canada Wins Whooooot!!!

GET IN THERE!!
Finland 3, Russia 1. What an incredible game, Russia got really good start but Finland makes great comeback in 2nd period. Finals is going to be fantastic show, no matter if opponent is Canada or United States.

If you’re in the States, NBC broadcasts the games live on their website (no login required) and they aren’t on cable TV. Can’t wait for Canada v. USA!

I am going to watch the US vs Canada game to see how it looks for a team with a Blue Jersey to score goals.

Canada has this sorry guys. GO CANADA GO!!!

Austin Mathews; American Sniper :sunglasses:

That was a hell of a game. Good hockey.

Good game indeed, USA sat on driver’s seat for a while but couldn’t prevent Canada’s victory ( shot made by Ellis was crazy fast ). Can’t wait to see last 2 games later this night.

Damn USA already down 2-0 to Russia just 15 minutes in…

Final score 7-2. Thankfully Russia wasn’t that effective yesterday, well deserved 3rd place.

Good to see the Host country win a medal. I find it wired that USA has so much trouble getting players to play in these tournaments.

Canada Vs Finland in 30 min.

GO CANADA GO!!!

The US team looked good in the US vs Canada game. I like the larger ice, more possession in the O-zone.

Honestly, from a viewership perspective, I don’t think the World Championships is that big of a deal here, perhaps partly due to timing. Right now you have the Stanley cup playoffs, NBA playoffs, and Baseball is in full swing. The hockey hierarchy as a whole is probably: Stanley Cup, Olympics, and then World Championships. I enjoy the WC because I like hockey, but the general public does not. Not sure if any of that is in relation to players not playing.

Well it’s same deal every year so nothing new under the sun. I’m honestly surprised if Canadian people aren’t interested of world championships, biggest hockey country after all. At least Czech/Russian/Finnish fans like it year after year.

Don’t you think Olympics goes before Stanley Cup by just little margin? :stuck_out_tongue:

The winter Olympics here are usually the butt of a joke. I personally like them, but their popularity is nowhere near the summer Olympics. I remember in 2010 a lot of people watched the US hockey team because they beat Canada. I can’t remember them being that popular besides that year. I believe that the general public watches figure skating and maybe a bit of hockey.

Also, I think the Stanley Cup playoffs is the most competitive hockey. It is also every year vs every 4 years. Generally speaking, the US general viewership likes winners. If the World cup soccer team is good, they will watch. If the US Hockey team is good, they will watch. As a whole, the main leagues (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL) take precedence for the fan base.

Shit, still no country that could’ve won all 3 golds in one year ( men, U18, U20 ). Canada was just slightly better in last game. On positive side Finnish hockey is doing really well compared to many horrible years during last ~20 years + lots of new good players otw. to the top. Just look at Laine once again: 1st tournament with adults as 18 year old, 7+5 and most valuable player of tournament. Not bad.

If there’s one thing to complain it would be penalty Aho received after Stone hooked him really hard, how can that be considered as diving? 2 important powerplay minutes lost just like that.

Thanks for all the replies, remember to keep eye on NHL draft next month and see you again later this year when World Cup starts.
