1st Edition French Foretress Neo Discovery Valuation

Hi all,

I saw a 1st edition French Foretress Holo sell today for £210 on a buy it now on eBay. Does anybody know more about French cards, and can maybe explain why they hold such high values, is that a normal price? Is it due to rarity?

Thanks,
Chris

That’s what, like $275? Non-English or Japanese cards (or a handful of unique items like Chinese Base Set cards) are hard to place a value on, because there’s almost universally a very limited sale history. Unfortunately, the reason for the limited sale history isn’t so much scarcity as limited interest. I imagine that French Forretress is super low pop, and the person who bought it is a niche collector who, like, loves Forretress or something.

I don’t think this indicates any precedent that French cards are worth a whole lot. I guess you could use this price point as a guideline if you wanted to list your own PSA 10 French Neo holos, but there’s a good chance they wouldn’t sell until a similar niche collector came along. This sort of sale is less about historically established price points (because there usually aren’t any, consistently) and more about how much you can wring out of the handful of potential buyers who might be interested for personal reasons.
