1998 WOTC Demo Game (for two players) Pack

Hey all,
I’m seriously considering purchasing a 1998 WOTC Demo Game Pack to add to my collection. I was wondering what everybody thinks about them?

For something around $200-300, and being so old, I feel it is so underpriced for its rarity. However, I do understand it is only 24 predetermined cards, so its really only value due to its sealed history.

I dig the pack. Recently had a discussion with someone on IG about it in regards to actual release time.

I don’t know that I’d call it under-priced in the $250 range. There are a number of them that pop up and are available. I can think of a lot of sealed products/ packs that are far more rare to find on the market. Do I think they will go down in price? No, probably not. But I don’t think they will skyrocket either.

Side note, would love to know more about how/ when/ where these were distributed if anyone has more information on them. My impression is that they were released after base 1st boxes in 1999 in the retail environment. Here are some points for my timeline reasoning:

  • These cards don’t have 1st edition stamping.
  • They have “99” in the copyright same as any other shadowless card.
  • WotC’s numbering WOC06046 and UPC code 742818060462 both come after most Base products that I’m aware of.
  • These packs contain the “corrected” yellow cheeks Pikachu card.
  • The packs instructions mention buying product that is currently available including starter decks and pre-constructed theme decks.
