Your topic is similar to… Oh it’s not similar to anything? That’s because it’s not been discussed afaik on this site yet and I’d love to have a list!
The 80s-aesthetic white ones are what seem to like for some odd reason, they’re ugly but the Pikachu variants drew me in.
The COMC site calls those “[Base]” set and the brown-bordered cards “[Story]” cards similar to most movie sets.
So, more information/update:
There’s not “12 cards in 3 sets”, Italian Wiki …
it’s “Cards picked from each episode of the anime are made up of 12 episodes each” according to Mandarake, poor translation but at least it makes more sense than Italian Wiki.
So these cards come in a sheet with five Story cards and five “Base” that have corresponding seals to their card type.
So characters are white seal, all others’ have a colored seal that reflects their typing.
This is the only ebay link i can find that’s not individual cards, but I got all those in my Mercari buy set I bought.
The reason why it says 12 sheets in 3 sets is because they were originally released in a Jumbo sheet. On the right you can see 10 different cards which had to be peeled from the jumbo. The sheet number was on the back bottom left. Each sheet had 10 smaller sheets which could be peeled so a total of 36 sheets makes it 360 of the smaller cards in total. So technically if you collect sheets 1-36, you should complete the set.
I don’t have it mapped or have found a resource that has every smaller sheet mapped to every jumbo sheet. I do however have this set almost complete. I have the first two sets in full and the 3rd set partial. I also saw somewhere that there are some secret sheets (making the total more than 36) but I cannot confirm that.
Let me know if you need any help with what you are trying to do with these.
Just to add some more information, there were three sets of 12 jumbo cards, plus an additional set of 10 jumbo cards. Sets #1 and 2 were fairly easy to find for sale (haven’t kept up with them so not sure if that’s still the case). Sets #3 I remember being a bit more difficult and same thing with #4. Here are the jumbos from set #4. I have a complete set in my storage unit if you’re interested in seeing them all
Yea, thanks for the input. The set 4 is the secret thing I was referring to, I had seen them for sale once but I found them to be too expensive at the time. Lovely to see them together. Is that your IG?
We can wait for OP to post and check what is needed. Thanks for sharing.
Only thing I can add is in the bundle you bought there are 2 mewtwos and 2 mews. The mewtwo that is turned around (and one of the 2 mews) are from the last jumbo card from set 4, the Movie Version. You can tell that the wordings in the bottom of the back (of each minicard) are longer than the normal ones.
Also, these are often calleb jumbo carddass (which is correct since they are jumbo and they were released in vending m.) But another name for these is Bandai Chip Shooter 3.
I’m trying to collect them all, but also catalogue exactly what you said if possible; mapping the individual sheets to their respective card possibilities.
This is exactly the reason I made a doc like this to keep it all in one place:
Trying to collect this type of obscure info as I keep collecting the cards, too.
I feel like this website would’ve titled them like that as that’s more unique and conventional of a name than “Bandai Jumbo Carddass Animation Version” <nearly all those words are recycled in other set names; do you have a source or a reason for why it’s referred to in that manner?
Just wondering… staff@comc.com < still hasn’t replied to me just ftr about my question on getting lists out of them
and @thedude1990
Just added you on iG;
I thought the lighter tan jumbo cards were a different set, no?
It’s wild to realize that these were called jumbo cards because of the full sheet, they don’t do that in other sets. I still haven’t received my purchase, so i’m not sure what the size is like.
If you have them in your storage unit and are willing to take pics, I would love any information on these I can get.
If I remember correctly its because its the translation of the titles shown in their promonional boxes/cardboard. You may find some on yahoo auctions or as sold items, and you use google’s photo translate
This is correct. These cards used to be packed in white boxes with the writing in Blue or Black which states that these are called as Jumbo Carddass Anime Version.
So also, these are called Jumbo because there are also the regular Carddass Pokemon Anime Collection sets which are completely different.
I can get the sizes for you if needed. Based on the Mercari advert that you posted, it contains only the left side cards from the Jumbo sheet, which are the Pokemon. The right side cards (which have the film reel marking) have certain scenes, probably from the episode which is depicted on the front of the Jumbo sheet.
I ordered a second set, too; one that has intact “jumbo” sheets, but i’m most interested in the “base” cards (the ones with colored pokeballs not the movie ones).
I’m familiar with the regular anime carddassu sets (they’re numerous and distinct) and Mandarake catalogs those really well.
I figure that the lighter tan (as opposed to brown) jumbo anime bandai cards exist, I just haven’t addressed them in my doc yet as i know less about those, actually.
Are they just a later set of the same thing?
Honestly my mistake; the lighter tan meaning the jacket/peelable paper the cards originate from had me thrown off. I couldn’t for some reason identify those like I could the Vending series and I kept thinking they were a different card! They just have designs on the back of the peelable jackets; my bad! Sorry for causing any confusion.
The document for the page on these is still definitely under construction; something interesting i found out: There’s more than 60 of the different “chips” (little mini-cards) in this series. A couple posts say they’re selling “All Twelve” of the different jumbo pieces, but that can’t be all of them if there’s more corresponding chips… unless the chips are randomized on each carddass sheet?
((Because 12 sheets times 5 “base” chips (not even talking about the movie ones with brown borders) makes 60 total… so if there’s more than that, either there’s sheets missing or they’re not consistently the same chips on each, not corresponding.))
