Reprints have absolutely destroyed any value LOB Unlimited could have outside of sealed product.
I was watching a video from Vintage MtG and he had a guest on which hit on this quite well. If you reprint old cards and saturate the market you might not harm the 1st Edition print but they do lose their prestige and luster within a hobby.
Right now you can go to Targets and Walmarts and buy the boxes (Legendary Collection) which all contain 1 pack of the reprint LOB and the cards are 1:1 the same aside from print quality like card stock, foil, etc.
While it was never guaranteed to be valuable the 2010 reprint, the 2014 reprint and now with the European release of Legendary Collection box set, a 2018 release killed any chance these cards had of going up.
Has legendary collection been reprinted? I was aware of the 2010 and 14 printing? Regardless unlimited value is lost even though there is differences between the original prints. Picked up dark hole and polymerization mint original prints for next to nothing.
Does this include 1st editions? My rule of thumb is to avoid unlimited edition of core sets like the plague and to only collect old reprint sets/special editions.
Okay, so they’re not reprinting 1st editions in a way that 1st edition might as well be considered unlimited edition though I’m sure we’re gettin’ there
This thread is making me hurt and smile at the same time. I sold all of my collection 10 years back and made some good profit. Should have kept my Blue Eyes collection. Still have my Dark Paladin cards though. Getting my corrected version from Beckett back in the day was one of the best memories I have from collecting. I didn’t want to give the only Dark Paladin card I had. I pulled a second one a few weeks later and made the deadline to turn the second one in for the “Corrected” version.
Also anyone who has had experience with grading yugioh cards with PSA - why do you think this card got a PSA 6? From the preliminary pictures I can’t tell anything going on. How harsh are they with grading the backs of cards, as older yugioh cards usually have imprints/smudges/scratches on the back even when pulled straight from the pack.
@cman, i have a psa 6 kanan the swordmistress in similar fashion. My guess is that both these cards could have a soft corner on one of the four corners.
What is a soft corner? Is that just wear on one of the corners or something else? Because for pokemon, I feel like wear on one corner only bumps a card down to like a 9, but def not a 6.
