Yugioh collectors

I don’t mean to derail this topic and turn it into a price check thread, but I don’t know where else to post this question…

So I’ve been looking at purchasing some of the infamous Upper Deck counterfeit YGO cards through private sales, but I have no idea what a reasonable price for these cards would be. Does anyone have any sort of sales data for this card that I can use as a rough baseline?

Thanks!

I don’t know about the other UDE cards but I know about the Flame Wingman. They go for about $30-$40 in excellent condition. Id say the rest are lower since they aren’t as popular as flame wingman.

You can search eBay using ‘silver eye’, it usually shows up.

Thank you so much for this!

I was going crazy trying different search terms on eBay – this helps a lot!

Seeing this thread action got me looking at my old YuGiOh. I feel like my interest in YuGiOh remains the same, but my love for Pokemon grows. Antone else? I often contemplate selling off my random stack of YuGiOh in order to get more Pokemon Cards lol. I do have a complete set of Legend of Blue eyes I’d imagine ill always keep.

I had no idea that people even wanted those cards since they’re not officially recognized by Konami. I’m familiar with the case between Upper Deck and Konami, but does anyone know about how many printings were released prior to the seize?

In the past. Not much people want them since they were produced more than gold one which was annoying to find legit one. Since I collected heroes.

I’m guessing the fakes are on the right? Because that would be a red flag for me with that coloration.

Easy way to tell by looking at the Anubis eye. 1st Ed cards should be gold while unlimited silver.

I actually went through some of the court filings yesterday and apparently Upper Deck printed:

  • 60,000x Elemental Hero Flame Wingman (TLM-EN035)
  • 50,000x Destiny Hero Dreadmaster (EOJ-EN004)
  • 60,000x Elemental Hero Aqua Neos (POTD-EN031)
  • 50,000x Water Dragon (EEN-EN015)
  • 60,000x Elemental Hero Electrum (MDP2-EN001)
  • 50,000x Elemental Hero Mudballman (MDP2-EN002)
  • 50,000x Flute of Summoning Kuriboh (MDP2-EN004)
  • 55,000x Mist Body (MDP2-EN005)
  • 60,000x White Horned Dragon (MDP2-EN006)

The story behind how they chose these cards is pretty funny. The CEO essentially asked for the 10 most popular YGO cards and one of the file and rank employees listed these (hilariously referred to in the documents as “The Nine Rare Cards”). I stopped playing by this time so I can’t speak to the playability of these cards, but it’s awfully interesting how 5/9 of these cards are McDonald’s promotion cards. Makes me wonder about the metrics that the employee was using…

Anyways, the whole lawsuit is a laugh but it was a neat insight into the logistics of TCG manufacturing.

@quuador, not really into ocg, but that was nice read.
This is one of my favorite part of my collection. I bought them long time ago. Top are tkn2 set and bottom are tkn4 set. I buy random I like to put into my main binder collection.

Thanks for that info @burpies!

Hilarious that those were the cards mentioned. Would have been better if they chose classics like BEWD, DM, and REBD. XD And yeah, I remember reading about the case back when I was doing research on corrected art Dark Paladin and thought it was a strange turn of events. Surprised they’re still able to do trading cards after all of that.

They were focusing on the GX era. They didn’t print a Blue-Eyes card from 2004-2008.

These cards were not playable at all. Truly a random selection aside from maybe flame wingman

Also, some of the counterfeits have the Anubis eye sideways on the holo:

Anyways, big thanks to everyone for all the information! I’ve now managed to source most of the cards at very reasonable prices. I’m only missing the Electrum, Mudballman, and Kuriboh cards now, but I’m sure I’ll slowly find them in the upcoming weeks/months. The “Nine Rare Cards” single-handedly ended the UD YGO era so getting a chance to own a piece of that history is amazing.

As you said, even though it was unauthorized to be released, they still are considered a significant piece of history in YGO, and very much affordable!

Does anyone have an idea of the value of a 1st ed PSA 9 Ghost Honest? I’ve been dipping into Yugioh lately and haven’t seen any sales of this recently but I did wanna throw an offer out on my buy thread soon once I complete my current goals

Disregarding the shill bidding and recent fake sales, do you know the current value? The last real sales seem to be at 7k.

Yugioh’s value is built on fake bids galore. I think its value 7k-8k but i was looking at trading a 1st ed ioc and mfc for it.

I think glossy boxes are around 7k and wavy boxes around 8-9k currently

Are you taking the recent sales on eBay into consideration? They are fake. Regarding the last auction, multiple bidders had no intention of paying and bid to increase the value/prevent a decline, hoping that someone eventually accepts a 2nd chance offer or a private sale takes place.

I contacted the seller yesterday. They didn’t receive the payment and sold it privately for 7.5k
