Sorry I followed the instructions on, “Making a good buying thread.” This didn’t tell me I had to put a price but said it was best to do so. Now I see from the top I must include the price.
Price depends on quality. $300-$700. Odd that I have to put a price. I feel like I’m either being super cheap or ripping someone off. lol Ebay prices vary a lot.
That’s gonna be tough for that price, just the Charizard in NM/Mint condition is gonna fetch $400-$2000 depending on the exact condition. Might need to up your offer if you want to find one here, or buy a set in lightly played condition
The reason for this rule is we’re different from all other sites. We are a collectors site. Wheeling’ and dealin’ clogs up our purpose. Having to state a price minimizes the back and forths which we don’t want. Plus, NO sales threads are allowed at all for the same purpose. Otherwise every Tom, Dick, and Harry in the world would post sale items here and ruin our site.
State a specific price you’ll pay and it must be close to market. Basically a “take it or leave it’ price.
In this case, your prices are silly. A “NM/M to MINT” set won’t be available for 300.00 for Nm/m or 700.00 for mint.
I did find a played set for 500.00 with an offer on eBay which isn’t bad and fits your range.
Ohhh okay that makes sense. Still new here. I think I need to do more research before requesting to buy because obviously my prices are all wrong. Thanks for the help y’all.
One thing you might consider is being a full set at NM or Mint except for the Holos. The problem your going to run into is if someone thinks a Charizard is in mint condition, they are gonna grade it since it would significantly raise in value. That’s what I ended up doing with my Base Set Collection is buying all the common, uncommons, and rares first and when the price lowers or When I’ve saved enough I’ll go back and get the Holos. It’s just an idea to consider since that would be in your price point I think.
Agreed! I think @oldskoolpokemon might be able to help with the non holo set? They had a bunch so it’s worth a shot.
It’s hard to find a complete set in the conditon you want tbh. People will advertise it as NM and every holo is like PSA 6 at best, especially the Charizard or other key cards. For $700 or a little more, I think you might be able to build it.
Edit: I’d value it closer to $1000, but it’s really going to vary a lot. If you’re being patient, you can scoop up great deals… but for NM(7-8 worthy) cards just the big 3 would be at least $500 and then maybe $25 average on the other holos you’re already at $825 + the non holos.
Hey Matt, I think your best bet is def gonna be purchasing a nonholo set in NM, then deciding what you want to pay for holos individually. Pricepoints in Holos for shadowless vary greatly based on condition. Especially when it comes to Charizard. I would tackle Full non holo and Charizard separately. Then try to get the holos in groups for “deals”
Don’t worry, you didn’t mess up. I’ve seen some very interesting buy threads the last couple months… one thing that might help however is asking the price market thread for information on what you want to buy before posting a buy thread. I’ve personally never done a buy thread so there might be even better things you could do that I don’t know about. Which means there is still time for you to see me “screw” up a buy thread as well
I really hope you find what you are looking for though!!
I have a set for sale, but it’s only excellent condition (Think about PSA 5) and missing a couple cards, but not the big ones. It does have charizard, blastoise and venusaur. No bends at all. I was gonna look for 500 on ebay, but we can negotiate if interested. If you want NM-M it’s gonna go over a 1000 easy. All 3 starters as PSA 8 cards would run over 1200 dollars.
You’re 1000 times better than other underpriced buy threads. You’re at least willing to hear the criticism and not resort to being defensive and actually admit you’re off on the price. For that alone you’ll do fine around here.
