I’m planning to send this Charizard in to PSA debating if I should just authenticate it or get it graded. Wanted to see what the coummunity thinks. If graded I’m actually hoping for a PSA 1 just because it would be cool to have. I posted this on my collection thread but reposting here for more opinions.
I have an authentic 1st ed base zard, would much prefer it to have a grade, but it looks lovely in a case either way
I would personally keep it as is, but that is entirely up to you. Some people prefer having low grade cards with just the authentic label and others prefer having an actual grade which makes it easier to determine the value if you ever want to sell it.
whatever fits you best.
Some people would pay more for it in an authentic case, some people would pay more for the psa 1.
All up to you.
Imo you’ll get more value from it with the grade if you’re looking to maximize the value of the card.
I’ve never really understood the desire for just an “authentic” label. I mean you are paying the same why not get them to throw the grade on there too?
Bonus for this one is if it does get a PSA 1 that they seem to earn a slight premium over what a raw damaged card would get for whatever reason. Not so much with this card, but with other damaged cards you also have the chance to pull in those really obscure grades like 2.5, 3.5 etc. which on THE Pokemon card could again pull a premium from people for whatever reason.
Grade with a number. (Personal opinion only.)
Doesn’t matter if you plan on keeping it, but a PSA grade prob will boost its value if you ever want to trade up/sell for another card.
Thanks everyone I will prob grade it and hope for a PSA 1. I would rather have a PSA 1 then a PSA 2 or 3 is that weird?

I wonder if I tell them to damage it to the point of a PSA 1 if its not already a PSA 1 what they will think.
