Something on my mind, relatively inexperienced buyer on sealed stuff.

Here goes,

Green wings base set booster. As a buyer, do you assume the seller has peaked to see what it contains above the tongue, to see if the packs are shadowless? I’ve seen a few videos and the nice guide on here outlining that. It would be pretty naive to think any experienced seller would not have checked?

Is there a way a buyer can ask for proof this has not happened? Even the small tags attaching the tongue to the box I’m sure were in tact still when some guy was peaking on the packs.

I’m just having trouble understanding why there is still additional value in a green wings. If its shadowless surely the seller, if they know, will mention they are shadowless or just open it up and sell the packs?

I think you’re spot-on with the logic chain of “if they’re not dumb, they will check; if they check and it’s shadowless, they will say so.” Kind of the same thing you have to follow with buying packs; assume they are weighed, and if it’s a heavy pack, the seller will say as such and upcharge.

Even if the tabs have not been broken, In this market, a buyer would have to assume the seller got the box from a case where one of the boxes has been checked. No one is not checking that.

The reason for the uncharge is because of its rarity and history. It outlines how WOTC handled early print runs of pokemon.

With that in mind, would it not be reasonable to ask the seller to clarify this?

I can see as the hobby becomes less of a hobby and more pure investment opportunity certain standards in the future will be expected and applied. Nothing will be ambiguously left like the situation discussed. Or with packs.

Buying now and over paying for a certainly unlimited booster, at green wings price, only to sell ot further down the line, probably having to clarify that it is intact an unlimited. Thus losing significant value, of which you actually never had a chance of anyway.

Interesting.

So you think that is already priced in? I’m sceptical the additional 10k (give or take)
greenwings commands over unlimited is mainly due to its history. I see it mostly advertised as something like POTENTIAL SHADOWLESS!?! With the sudden rush from new money I imagine the allure there is real.

Green Wings have always been more expensive because of the art, and rarity… maybe there was a little hope of being shadowless a few years ago, but it has nothing to do with shadowless in the current time and market.

It’s separated itself for rarity of the box variation and being closer in print to first edition. The rarity pricing is similar to a black triangle booster error, or the red logo fossil and jungle boosters, which all are sky high even though the cards inside are the exact same as their regular counterparts.

Bearing in mind the 1st edition Fossil box sold for $17.1k yesterday - the gap seems to be reducing ~

As base set is getting close to 30k people are starting to look into other boxes that are cheaper. Again, the early WOTC gang is playing catch up.

Going for Unlimited, because it was the first box (in a manner of speaking); then the next best thing due to the reasons you mentioned regarding expense and then if they’re still in the hobby: they’ll research and discovery the low print-runs of the Neo boxes and Skyridge ~

Exactly! I honestly don’t see why 1st jungle can’t get closer to unlimited Base in these next few weeks. Being the 2nd 1st Ed set ever released and a beautiful and so so low psa 10 holo pop report compared to all other early WOTC sets.

Precisely! But I still have faith in Team Rocket due to that Charizard, but you’re right ~ Though at the same time I’m utterly surprised how much Base 2 is going for ~

1st ed jungle vaporeon psa 10 is already over 7k on PWCC (such a undervalued card). May see a record price for 1st ed jungle booster box as well in 9 days on PWCC boys and girls.

A ripped seal/creased box sold by a 3 feedback seller for 30k.

There’s 2 for auction and the next cheapest is a mint box for 35k.

I’m trying to get confirmation on the 1st Neo Discovery box sale on Dave & Adam’s Card World page, which was taken off eBay on the 18th of October for US $27,150.95 ~
