Worth PSA grading 1st edition fossil and jungle cards atm?

About 10 years ago my brother and I bought an unopened 1st edition fossil booster box, and same for a jungle box. We opened quite a few of the packs about 5 years ago and sleeved the cards but didn’t get them graded, I still have 9 unopened fossil and 6 unopened jungle packs. I’m now looking to sell all these cards.

I’ve never done a PSA submission before and don’t feel confident about self-estimating the grades of the cards. My guess is that most of the cards are 8s and 9s, with very few 10s. From memory Jungle and fossil were notorious for having poorly cut corners which is what I’m finding.

It seems to me that with the cheapest PSA grading option currently being $50 US a card, the only cards worth getting graded are the best looking holos, and that I’m better off just selling off the rest of the cards raw. I say this because the PSA 9 holos look to be selling for only $100 to $200 and most of the non holos (even the rares) are only hitting $200 at PSA 10, and there’s still plenty of chance that they’ll be graded lower, in many cases taking the value to <$50usd.

Including the commission taken by someone like PWCC (who I think I need to sell with because I have no established presence on ebay), I suspect I’d be breaking even or losing money on all cards I graded aside from the best looking holos.

Either that or wait until PSA reintroduces a $20US submission tier.

Any other thoughts on how best to maximise value from these cards would be appreciated. pic below of my self-assessing in progress because seeing old holo cards is cool.

jungle and fossil card pics

send closer pics of the holos. look for whitening on the back, print lines, and scratches on the holo.

I would wait a bit then grade them when PSA resumes normal service. I wouldn’t sell them raw though because pack fresh WOTC holo’s aren’t easy to find for decent prices anymore.

General grading questions should be in The Giant Professional Grading Thread. I’ve locked this thread, and you’re free to re-post it there.

But as mentioned by @sparky55603 , with a general picture like that we can’t say anything about their potential grades. They could all be PSA 9-10 quality, but they could also all be 7-8 quality. If they’re pack fresh, most will probably be 8-9, depending on the amount of whitening on the backss and holo scratches present. But again, without close-up pictures of both the front and back we can’t give any indication about potential grades, and even with pictures the estimate will be mediocre at best, since most scratches and minor indents can’t be seen on pictures.
