In attempting to verify some chronology for unnumbered Japanese promos, I noticed that Bulbapedia indicated both World Hobby Fair 2000 and Champion Road 2000 occurred in January 2000. This did not seem right. Here is the excerpt:
In Japan, this card was reprinted as a promotional card for the release of Emperor of the Crystal Tower: Entei and was available at the 11th Next Generation World Hobby Fair held in January and February in 2000. This print only differs from the regular print by featuring “11th Annual World Hobby Fair Attendance Commemoration card” on the bottom right of the card border. Another promotional variant was released in Japan for those who participated in the Champion Road tournament held in January 2000.
Cutting right to the chase, this does not seem correct. Thanks to Pokumon’s invaluable documentation, I was able to easily learn it was actually Champion Road that spanned January to February, which you can read about here: https://pokumon.com/champion-road-2000/
Information on World Hobby Fair 2000 is much more scarce. But I did manage to find one single GameSpot article dated June 2000 that refers to WHF 2000 occurring that month: https://www.gamespot.com/amp-articles/world-hobby-fair-2000-report/1100-2594624/
It explicitly mentions Neo Pokémon cards being featured at the event.
So at this point I believe WHF 2000 occurred in June and it was the Champion Road versions that were released first, which would mean Bulbapedia is incorrect.
I wanted to see if anyone knew of or could turn up any additional confirming or conflicting information about this!
EDIT: 11th WHF was in January, 12th WHF was in June.
