Won an ebay auction just to have it immediately canceled?

Hey y’all,

So I just won this auction today, slow and rainy day today at work, and it was cancelled within minutes when completed. I was in the process of paying for it when I was informed that this item was cancelled. Is this a seller scam or was he hoping for more money? Never had this happen before so it confused me. I have had people cancel items when it was damaged before shipping but minutes after to cancel seemed sketch. Thoughts?

Thank you.

My money is on the fact that he was looking for more from the auction.

Not sure if you can, but you can leave a negative feedback for something like this.

Seller is the same one with the shadowless set he was trying to sell a million times is it not?

All you can do is leave negative feedback

Thanks for the recommendations everyone. It doesn’t appear like I can give him negative feedback because he cancelled the auction. Oh well, on to the next one.

You can definitely still leave negative feedback if you won the auction and then he cancelled.

And even then all they have to do is call eBay and they will remove it. Its a major downfall of eBay. Happens every day.

You should definitely leave a negative. You got it for fair market value as well, it’s not like you had stole it from them. That card seems to sell in the $90-125 range so I don’t know what they were expecting but it was way too much.

I have cancelled a couple items because I was out of stock. In those instances I message the buyer and apologize for the inconvenience. I’ve had the same occur as a buyer and don’t leave negative feedback.

If they cancelled and re-list to get more money, that is auto negative feedback.

I believe you can’t leave feedback if you haven’t paid.

Okay so I called ebay. You CAN leave feedback even if I didn’t pay for the item since I won. Cullers advice is correct. I just kept scrolling to the bottom of the page instead of clicking the feedback on the top left. I can leave feedback and all they can leave is positive feedback but they can leave a bad comment that ebay said would remove and then further apply negative notes on that seller.

I understand things happen. Like smpratte said, part of it is about communication. If he sent me a message informing me there was a mistake then that is a different situation. I used to serve at Carrabbas Italian grill and all the people want is communication if you’re backed up or the kitchen is slow. If you inform the guests they usually understand and it doesn’t effect your tip or their experience. But if you leave them in the dark and make them have a bad experience your tip goes down significantly and they start complaining.

So I’m not sure if I’ll leave negative feedback just was surprised this happened and it was the first time this has happened.

Thanks for all the great advise y’all!

You actually can, but you have to go to the Feedback Forum.

You’ll say this more times than not :stuck_out_tongue:

BTW very cool avatar/username combo; however, it bothers me that the squirtles teeth end half way through his mouth. Can you upgrade your avatar to this?

If you’re a part of birmingham orthodontics I can put the logo back on too.

Ok I’ve been following this buyer for months now as he’s got quite a few items I’ve been interested in. He has CONSISTENTLY been relisting his auctions time and time again. He put one set up for auction 3-4 times even. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…

Yeah, thing is about the negative feedback, do not be surprised at all if you do not see after leaving it. Same thing happened to me, and the seller managed to remove the negative feedback three times with no issues. I did not leave anything explicit, literally said the seller cancelled the auction and did not respond to my messages. I also called eBay about the issue and they apologized and say they will “fix” it, but of course that did nothing.

Don’t think too much about this like I did or else you will have a bad time!

This.

I’d negative feedback them asap personally. I don’t know how much they are looking for. I’d say $100 on that card is more than fair.

HAHAHA! This is great! I just found this online and it fit what I thought was cool. Thank you! I will change it to your new design. Not affiliated with that office it was just who I “borrowed” from.
