I’m just curious, as obviously the following sets were released:
1.Team Rocket (2000) 2.Team Rocket Returns (2004)
The question still stands: will there be such a release? But also, why hasn’t there been a proper Dark Pokemon release from Nintendo since 2004? And to a lesser - or perhaps even greater - extent, not even a Light Pokemon expansion since Neo Destiny. Despite constructing Team Rocket Returns, is this simply a power-move by Nintendo, in wishing to distance themselves from the legacy of Wizard of the Coast?
Should we expect a set in the future? Or are Nintendo’s priorities elsewhere?
Team Rocket Returns coincided with the Fire Red Leaf Green games which is why Team Rocket was relevant at the time. Who knows if they will do something like that again
@7l7l, There were full art cards of Jessie and James/ Giovanni in Hidden Fates as playable trainers, but not in relation to anything specific other than that. However, Id love to see another rocket set personally. The first team rocket was my favorite and Dark Charizard is still one of my favorite card artworks (even though the “dark” and “light” pokemon naming scheme never really did anything for me) so Id love to see something come back down the road. Maybe if something rises in Sword and Shield involving rocket we could possibly see a return, but so far I see no major signs of anything sadly.
I’d love to see another team-focused set! Team Rocket Returns is one of my favorite sets ever, and while I don’t collect WOTC stuff, the original Team Rocket is great too. I honestly can’t think of a bad team set, even Double Crisis and the Plasma sets are cool. Kinda stinks we didn’t get any team-focused stuff in the SM era, but hopefully there will be something in SWSH. I doubt a Team Rocket focus is coming anytime soon as the TCG usually matches up with the games, but maybe a Team Yell set or when the DP remakes are released a Team Galactic set.
Thanks for the comments everyone, but I 100% agree ~ Hopefully the the games will include Team Rocket to a greater extended, for the TCG to eventually emulate.
I think there will be a Team Yell (or whatever team they put in the next games) set before we get another Rocket set. No one seems to like Team Yell so that’s not likely, but if for some reason they made the antagonist of the next game(s) enjoyable then I can see them turning it into a set.
