Why are there so few 3xxxxxxx certs?

Sorry for yet another cert thread.

I didn’t intent to make a whole thread for this small question, but both of the other threads where I asked this got locked before I got an answer.

There appear to be very few 3xxxxxxxx certs around, why is that? Or did I just overlook them all the time? Actually I think I’ve seen my first one just today: link. The seller has a bunch of other 3xxx cert cards listed, but he definitely seems to be the exception.

Hopefully we can make this thread a quick one and please no conspiracies here

I actually saw my first 3xx cert on ebay today. Looks weird.

Nobody will have the answer. It’s something to do with PSA’s system, as far as what the answer is, I don’t think anyone here has enough knowledge of the inner working of PSA to give a definitive answer.

Now everyone will be chasing 3xxx certs…great

Interesting that this 3xx cert is an e-reader card. The only 3xx cert I own is also an e-reader card… :open_mouth:

This one is a 1st Ed Base, so I don’t think there’s any connection between e-series and 3xxx certs (thank god, that would’ve sparked another conspiracy theory).

Hmm idk, we could be at the foundation of another conspiracy theory. It does seem tempting to get in on the ground level

In seriousness, most of these 3xx certs start with 303824xx so its likely that a small batch of Pokemon cards was graded by PSA around that time

Unless PSA decided to go 2xx to 4xx and skip the 3’s for some reason lol

It’s more likely that they’re using the 3x certs for specific service levels. Checking random numbers in their verification resulted in a bunch of different sports cards between the numbers 30000000 and 31909999 www.psacard.com/cert/31909999/

Then www.psacard.com/cert/33000000/ results in a black lotus MTG card , but 33000001 and 32999999 is nothing:

www.psacard.com/cert/32999999/ www.psacard.com/cert/33000001/

You can find some other one-off cert numbers with nothing between the submission for example www.psacard.com/cert/35000000/

Some time ago I posted following pictures in another thread. I bought both cards from @jcincy101 in 2018 and while making a deal he mentioned they were submitted for grading in February, maybe this info helps figuring out the mystery.

Yes I had 187 bulk sub cards graded all 302xxxx certs date received by PSA 3/23/18 and date shipped 4/27/18. I had another order received on 4/25 that had 4xxx cert. The sub I had in feb 2018 had 2xx. So at least from my data only around March of 2018 is when they did 3xxx certs.

No idea why?

Maybe someone can get a 1st Ed Base PSA 10 set of 3xx certs. It will be the most most valuable set in the hobby.

I’ve never seen a 3xxx cert in the wild.
