Has anyone graded any sealed modern games, like 3DS & Switch era? Is it worth it?
Iām not a VGA guy so idk how much it costs to grade modern games but Iāve seen 85+ copies of lets go and SWSH go for $250-$350.
That seems insane when you can pick them up anywhere for MSRP?!
Agreed. Think itās super inflated rn so i made sure to pick raw copies of everything that has come out recently.
Iād love a copy of Red/Blue, Gold/Silver, but my funds are totally absorbed in the TCG at the minute.
I do, however, own a sealed copy of Final Fantasy 7 (the greatest game of all time, no debate)
Given the major grading backlogs, it would not surprise me if many other people had that exact same thought and there ends up being a ton of modern VGA graded games on eBay in a yearās time. Just a thought before you plunge money into this
At those prices, Iād be shocked if the modern graded market didnāt crash. I would guess that VGA being closed for lower value submissions is probably the only thing keeping the market afloat.
VGA seems much sketchier than WATA just based on their websites, itās hard to believe that a reputable grading company could have that rough of a site in 2022.
Iāll take the rough website over the company that was founded to shill the entire market.
itās like yāall have never heard of NFTs before
Iāve been heavily buying ungraded/graded pokemon games and have really enjoyed it.
specifically, japanese.
I do I got this sealed ruby copy for like 1280 a while back. Was a heated auction. I missed a sealed HG copy a while back.

Iām looking for a sealed red or blue first Gen if anyone has one ![]()
Hi!
I got a few games, got them graded at Wata and have to say I am pretty satisfied, Shipped them from spain, got them graded in 3 months, and got them back to spain (just had to pay 250⬠for import taxes, they declared a lower value than I would have liked if there was any issue with the packageā¦)

@franmotard Selling is not allowed on the forum (see rules 2.x), including briefly mentioning youāre thinking about selling āitem Xā. Iāve edited your post to remove that line, so we can still admire the graded games.
Greetz,
Quuador
Thank you and sorry I didnāt know about that rule!
I wanted to start a collection as well. Especially with Japanese games. I thought Wata doesnāt grade Japanese Game Boy games.
Now, I have seen Japanese Game Boy games graded in Coop13s Collection thread, such as PokƩmon Pinball.

Since when are they grading these? Or what regulations do they need to meet to get graded?
Wata still dont grade those as far as I know, these ones he posted are VGA.
Wata has started grading recently pokemon stadium 2 games as you can see here www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=pokemon+japanese+wata&_sacat=0
VGA on the other hand they have always been grading japanese pokemon games. How these games works is tricky. For grading as new, they should have never been opened. I mean, Japanese pokemon games were not sealed back in the days apparently, they would be sold as new in box directly, so the condition for being able to be graded is that they have never been oppened.
But also, they can grade these games if oppened as āqualifiedā(commonly known as CIB) but they must include all original content and meet some requirements :
Here is how VGA explain these:
*We WILL grade unsealed boxes if the following criteria is met:
For grading under standard or modern grading scales, an item must not have originally come sealed from the factory. This must be the exclusive or most common way the item was released and the contents must be verified as new. We will only grade boxed items which are no longer tape sealed (i.e. tape cut or lifted) under either of these grading scales if a boxed item also has an intact interior blister seal, and all of the accompanying contents and paperwork are stilled sealed in their respective bags when applicable.
For grading under the qualified grading scale (available only for items submitted to AFA or VGA), an item can be opened, but must contain unused contents. To qualify, all parts must be attached to plastic trees or in their original factory state, sticker sheets must be unused, and all cardboard, styrofoam, or plastic inserts as well as all documentation and paperwork must be present. Tears in plastic bags and other similar flaws must be deemed unintentional to qualify (i.e. happened at the factory or from contact with a sharp part within the box). However, these flaws may be noted on the qualified COA which accompanies each item graded under this scale.*
Thatās actually a great explanation. Thank you so much.
What I am wondering about is this paragraph āand the contents must be verified as new.ā How can you verify items as new? Do they mean it just needs to look like itās new, or how do they want to confirm this?
