As a personal preference, I would go for the stamp box, as I dislike graded cards and have a strong affinity for special promos, especially non-English ones. I would then promptly open it to enjoy, as I also dislike keeping most products sealed
Buy for your enjoyment first and foremost. I’m not here to knock anyone’s particular taste in cardboard, but if your first thought on these is “How much can I make in the future?” then consider if you really want to collect Pokemon cards or just want cash (nothing wrong with that of course, but time and place). I say this with all of the kindness in my heart, but if you want an investment, go to the stock market.
I’d rather go with the stamp box. I love that style of old school Japanese art and it’s more “limited” than the Giratina Alt Art. The only ding against the stamp box for me is that I’ve grown to genuinely hate having sealed product. It’s bulky, awkward, and stressfull to store long term. Especially if you were to own multiple stamp boxes.
I think for me Item B, as you have a few options with it. You could sell the whole sealed set, or open and sell and/or grade the individual cards. It also has good value to Pikachu collectors specifically.
In comparison with Item A, a modern graded PSA 10 is also not super difficult to obtain most of the time. There could still be countless ones pop up in the future, but the promos will always be more limited/unique overall compared to any regular set card.
I like the stamp box more, but it really has nothing to do with investment value and more to do with what I personally value:
I like the stamps themselves, even without the cards
I like the unique art of the stamp promos
I love that the art of the promos has a cultural tie in to where it was released
I actually think the box is kind of cool, and even if everything it comes with gets removed I would still use it to store Pokemon things I collect
I truly don’t really care about Giratina as a Pokemon, and in this particular art it looks like a centipede
I think if you asked this question somewhere other than E4, it’s likely you would get more people telling you to buy the PSA 10 Giratina. I would recommend truly just stepping back for a second and asking which one you would want to have sitting on your shelf to look at more and go from there.
I’d $tonk up on the $tamp box. I don’t have any interest in either, the base trio stamps are great but their beauty is unfortunately ruined by not being on a sheet of their own as they should’ve been. Contrary to other commemorative Japan Post releases, the sheet itself also has to look terrible for some reason.
Not trying to clown, but honestly I don’t think anyone’s investments are the safest in shiny childrens cardboard. I’d invest into something safe, and if your feeling risky go into something risky. But in general I’d do both of those in other forms of investment ie. Stocks, crypto (which I personally don’t think is a good idea), and nfts of feet
Not sure if I mentioned this earlier, but Stamp Boxes didn’t come with the entire box sealed (there is a sealed pack holding the cards but that should be easier to store than trying to preserve the whole box).
The boxes were shipped to the post offices as-is with a pile of resealable plastic bags. If the post office you picked up the boxes from didn’t bother to pack the boxes for you, you will just get the box and a plastic bag separately, and it’s up to you whether to tuck the box into that bag and seal it or not.
With that in mind, you can basically store the box and contents separately if you feel more comfortable doing so. Sadly investors would scream “no the box must come sealed! You opened it so I’m gonna lowball you!”, but hey you’re a collector, you know the truth and you’re not selling for money anyway, so why bother?
