Which do you collect more and why?

I like to collect Pokémon cards that have organic collectibility.

For me, this is everything pre-2016.

If is sets, I collect English. And if its Neo or previous, has to be 1st edition.

Also love Japanese promo cards with history. Fan clubs, play promos, Masakis…

i collect pretty much everything. i spent the last few years collecting a lot of modern japanese and have recently been heavily shifting toward focusing on vintage. excited to have more vintage binders to flip through !!

Collecting:

In terms vintage vs modern: I collect cards from all eras.

In terms of raw vs graded: I primarily collect raw cards for the binder, but I do get sealed, graded, and Jumbo cards every now and then.

In terms of languages: I collect all 15 TCG languages: English; Japanese; Dutch; German; French; Italian; Spanish; Portuguese; Korean; Trad. Chinese; Polish; Russian; Thai; Indonesian; Simpl. Chinese.

Buying right now:

Since I already have almost all vintage cards I want for my collection goals, I’m primarily buying newly released (and thus modern) cards these days.

My collections:

  • I collect Pikachu in all languages up to Feb. 27th, 2021 (25th Pokémon Day), and am currently missing just 10 (one English; five Japanese; two German; and two Spanish) Pikachu TCG cards out of 1433 from before this date. For Pikachu cards after that date, I collect the Base Set reprints in all languages; all English releases; and one of each non-English (aka Japanese 99% of the time) exclusive artworks without going for all variations, which I have all except for some recent releases.
  • I collect Seviper in all languages, which is complete except for some recent Thai/Indonesian/Simpl. Chinese releases.
  • I collect the Moltres WotC #21 promo in raw (all languages); sealed (all 10 variations); and graded (for PSA-10 both Japanese, both English, and both English with new labels; for BGS just the English error illustrator in BGS-BL10; for CGC just the English error illustrator in CGC-Perfect10 old label and CGC-10 new label; for PCA a French PCA-9+; for EG a Spanish EG-9+; and I’m still trying to find an Italian GRAAD-9+, German Platin-9+, and English corrected illustrator CGA-90+ (Card Grading Australia)).
  • I collect all English and non-English exclusive Full Art Supporter and CHR cards, which is complete (including the rare Japanese promos like The Masked Royal, Team Rocket Brief Case, etc.) except for some incoming new releases.

Greetz,
Quuador
