Update: TCGRepublic contacted me after I filled out a feedback form and said some cards weren’t in great condition. I got store credit for the full value of the cards that were damaged. Great customer service, I have to say.
I discovered this shop a while ago as well and decided to buy few Pikachu cards for myself!
I decided to share my experience with you I made some pics of the package and cards too.
I placed an order on 24th April. It took them over a week to send my cards, but that’s not really a problem for me. They sent it on 6th May by regular Air Mail (which was free). Today (11th May) I received package from TCG Republic and man, that was a surprise! There was a big package waiting for me but I ordered only 4 cards! LOL
See for yourself:
So here’s the package and the label says… towel?! What the heck
YEP! There’s a towel : D Pretty cool!
Cards were packed in plastic CD case and foil bag, each card was in sleeve
And here’re the cards. Overall there’re in pretty good condition. There’s no big edge wear etc.
Here’re the backs
So yeah, I’m pretty happy about the cards and about a towel haha, great shop.
My order was also shipped on the 6th but I haven’t been back yet to see If it is at home, is it Poland you are on kubek? Are the delivery times similar to uk does anyone know or will it be slightly longer?
I’m interested to know why they sent an Ichiban Kuji Towel from the latest kuji in as a freebie?
Those things are around $6 a ticket. Then again they might’ve been trying for a bigger prize and had a lot of those leftover
I was suprised as well! But maybe it’s just like woolsuk said - they love to give freebies to their clients.
As you can see on the ticket that was attached to the towel they also run a store with anime stuff - otakurepublic.com so my guess is that they have a lot of things like that. Btw prices for Pokemon figures in their store are… quite funny O-O
Please call me luke I contacted them about my damaged card and got a response pretty quickly saying they had refunded me then asked me to send pictures of the damage which I did just so they could see. Unfortunately the card I ordered wasn’t stocked anymore though so I ordered 2 mega latios from emerald break as I figured they have had less time to become damaged haha.
Guess I’ll offer my experience with my 1st purchase from them:
I had been watching the Crystal Charizard cards they had listed on their site (about a month ago) for some time. I saw that they knocked down the price to below eBay sold listing prices, so I decided to quickly snatch both copies available.
So 13 days pass by without any e-mail confirmation from TCG Republic regarding my order, so I started to wonder if they had shipped the order yet and forgot to e-mail me the tracking number (which according to their site is included with EMS shipping). I e-mailed them to ask for a tracking number, which they quickly provided. Apparently TCG Republic shipped the order right away and it arrived here in the US within a few days, but USPS decided to hold the package without leaving me a note at my door/in my mailbox. Nice.
I finally picked up the cards, and was surprised at how well they were packaged packaged. My Charizards were also shipped inside a CD case, and I also received two free holos and some various commons/uncommons as a gift. Most of them were in LP/Ex condition, but I didn’t mind much since they weren’t originally part of the purchase. What I was more surprised about, was that even though the listing on TCG Republic’s site showed a 1st Ed. Crystal Charizard and I assumed I had purchased 2 of the same copy, they sent me one Unlimited Ed. Crystal and one 1st Ed. Crystal. I needed both for my collection and both were in Mint condition so I was obviously not upset about their mistake. I e-mailed them either way to let them know what had happened, and they decided to refund me $30 for the mistake and sent me an extra $10 as a thanks for the purchase. Pretty awesome card shop IMO
I visited their site, like @omahanime said some of their prices are a lot higher than other sites/ebay whereas there are a few deals there. Just caution when you think you are getting a good deal. Their VS prices for one are really high
I waited 'til they lowered the price to $540 for both, and ended up paying $480 after the $40 refund. Both are mint too! Was honestly all a surprise, because I was originally planning on just selling the spare 1st Ed. for a small profit but I ended up getting both versions lol.
I also ended up purchasing their 1st Ed. Plasma Gale Charizard they listed a short while after that, but this one arrived in Ex/Nm condition (got a free Pokemon bag this time, but looks like it’s for women xD)… so their grading scale seems to be a little inconsistent. I think someone else here mentioned this as well. Can’t complain too much though, their gifts are always a nice bonus and they at least do alot better job at trying to fix any issues, at least compared to most eBay sellers
Yeah, their prices seem to be inconsistent. Some items are for some reason cheap compared to eBay/Y!J prices, and then others will be considerably more expensive… Guess it depends on what you’re looking for. The most important thing though, is that what they define as “Excellent” condition cards is also inconsistent. Not sure how one order I receive Mint cards and the next order, I get cards that are closer to LP condition than Nm… packaging and customer service are however topnotch. So, proceed with caution on older cards, if the prices are right for you.
