Big auto enthusiast here! I sold a decent chunk of my cards a few years back to take advantage of a really good deal for one of my dream cars. Speaking from experience, do I regret selling the cards? Yes. Do I regret getting the car? Hell no. If I had a 2nd shot at that decision, I more than likely wouldn’t make those decisions I made, however, I am happy with what I’ve done nonetheless. You can take my experience with a grain of salt.
The cam, pulleys, and ported supercharger make it easy to forget about the cards I did sell, lol.
Haha my man. One who understands the struggle. Time will tell !! This hemi really bad on gas , maybe time for trade in. Thanks for the advise , much help.
Just watchd smpratte’s new “Confidence in Pokemon” video, and I think it directly ties into this ‘concern’ that some of us still have over a particular card or even a set’s value.
These concerns are very typical with many collector’s items, and reasonably so. But I believe smpratte hit the nail on the head, in that Pokemon is not a normal collectible. It is a GENRE.
When people talk about Star Wars, they often say that it is not a genre; it IS a genre. Pokemon has become that juicy of a social phenomenon, that it too IS a genre.
And look at how many bumps Star Wars has gone through over its 50 year lifespan. One or two crappy movies in the 90’s and early 2000’s (thank god we had Pokemon then) did nothing but make the anticipation that much sweeter and now, of course, Star Wars continues to age like a fine wine and maintain its legendary popularity. Even the crappy movies are legendary in their own right (Natlie Portman stayed hot).
So, I really don’t believe there is any reason to worry about Pokemon genre suffering permanent loss. Sure there are dips in market value and better times to buy or sell, but no card is simply going to lose all or most of its value unless you wipe your buttocks with it.
Take all your cards and do like Forrest Fenn. Lock them away in a treasure chest and bury them somewhere in the rocky mountains. But leave extremely vague clues as to its where abouts.
