Hi! I’m looking to get into some 1st edition cards, mainly looking for ungraded and found this guy on Instagram. Curious if u guys can give opinion on potential psa grades based on the videos

You’re better off buying already graded and then cracking the case yourself. Then you know the exact condition which is a big deal.
My uneducated guess would be PSA 6-7 for Blastoise and PSA 8 for Venusaur.

For the price he’s asking for ungraded cards that look kinda beat up you can get either of these cards graded PSA 8.
It’s not a good deal by any measure. PSA is gonna charge you a fortune to grade them, and then give you a 6.
If you’re new, like me, you really should stick to graded cards so you don’t buy some ugly or fake cards.

Absolutely no way that Venusaur would be an 8.
OP, when a seller of very high end cards is not grading his cards, you can always assume they are in a way worse condition than they look in the vids/pics they provide.

Yeah, this is a total rip off. Usually when people sell their crusty ungraded cards they offer a discount for them, not charge PSA 8 Graded prices.

Venusaur could totally get an 8. I think it has just as much chance at an 8 as it does a 7.
I was waiting for the wind to just take these away. Better lighting outside?

Doesn’t UV damage cards?
Well yes, but if 5 minutes of sun exposure would completely destroy a or even just significantly damage a card, there would be literally 0 cards from the original era left (that aren’t sealed).
The UV damage only really becomes a problem when you permanently display your unprotected cards near a bright light source or a window.
