What to do about a seller pulling auctions for shady reasons

What are we arguing about? condition of listing’s, wording of listing’s, personality and being greedy? Or ending auctions early?

Don’t know why you need to turn it all into a personal attack and harassment.

You disagree with ending listing’s early. Fair enough.
I agree in ending listing’s early so long as it’s possible. Based on the honest reasons above.

If I want to do a backsie on an auction. Then I’ll do it on an auction. Everyone has second thoughts, and the time frames help to do that. I would never do it on buy it nows, or sales.

Let’s leave it at that.

Not sure why nobody suggests starting the auction price at the absolute minimum you’ll accept.

Also, just because there is little early action, by closing it early you could be missing out on a couple of gigantic snipes;)

Technically, you can cancel any auction you want (before the 12hour time limit of course). Heck, eBay gives a list of options to choose for why you are cancelling. However, eBay advises that you shouldn’t do it just because you don’t like the price the auction is at. You need a valid reason. Cancelling an auction takes away any chance the buyer had at getting what they wanted at a lower price than they can get it elsewhere. You’re also falsely getting their hopes up, only to withdraw the item at the end. Yeah, you can do whatever you want with your items, but it ends up disappointing anyone who was bidding or was planning to, and that could end up being more costly than letting the auction finish. I.e. some (but not all) people will decide not to bother bidding on your future auctions even if it’s something they want.

Edit: At any rate, there’s not much buyers can do to avoid cancelled auctions, so it isn’t something to worry too much about. It’s just something that’s annoying to many buyers lol.

SHOTS FIRED.

@hisoka107 Hisoka… How many packs have you weigh’d to get what you wanted in psa10??? You keep attacking others, and now you talk about greed, but how about the greed you enganged in when weighing packs and selling the light ones to get what you wanted for your collection… Isn’t that the same?? Were only human, what are you a Dictator? Remember Nazi Germany?
Come on man Calm down.
I agree with what your saying, but theres just one problem… You keep nitpicking others out, because your finished with the practice now… You have what you want now, or Am I completely wrong? You even said the other day that you know the benmefits of advantages of it well… kkthxbai is just trying to make a living selling cards, maybe he just sells cards this way because He doesn’t want to deal with people who have return piles. Lol, I understand the frustration in Near mint to mint and what not, but man oh man you should see yahoo auction’s the way there listed… Horrible description, horrible photo’s of resolution 1x1. Atleast kkthxbai has nice photo’s and we can judge the condition accordingly… It’s not the end of the world man. Stop Judging others. What aare you getting at anyway?? Do you want to destroy kkthxbai reputation as a seller, He has worked pretty hard. Is it really necessary to destroy fellow UPCCCians reputation because you didnt win an Auction? @kkthxbai Is not a shill bidder, and you shouldnt take this out on him… He was just offering up his opinion on the matter and you went full north korea on his ass. I got this all wrong or what? I don’t know, but I see this as getting a bit personal if you know what I mean.

This is the easiest solution. Free and simple.

I myself just list things I want to move at 0.99 and move on. I never track the prices while it is live, I just pack it up once it moves into my “awaiting shipment” area on eBay. Sometimes I get $5 for a PSA 10 ex era holo, but I have also gotten $170, and yes that buyer paid (it was a pop 1). With how often I feel that I get too little, I get so much some times that it covers several of the low amounts.

To list at 0.99 to attention grab, just to pull the listing is wrong IMO. As is listing at 0.99 to attention grab and then shill bid it away from buyers.

This has become rather personal so I think this discussion has run its course, I will say this however, ending auctions is not a morally sound thing to do as when you put an item up for auction you are accepting that it may go for $0.01, this is the risk of auctions, if you can’t accept letting it go for any price then simply don’t auction it, put a reserve on it, or start it at a price you are comfortable selling for. I know the above 3 points have been made already but I would just like to reiterate them being as there seems to be some confusion over the purpose of auctions.

wow. What I said about kthxbai actually had merit. Theres nothing dishonest about weighing packs and selling them as WEIGHED. There is however a possible negative side selling packs as weighed. This whole thing was discussed and your opening your mouth with nothing of value in it.

Second. I never set out to attack him. He talked about being an honest seller. I looked at his store and called him out on what I thought was shady. I want to know who here doesn’t think ending an auction early because they aren’t getting the money they isn’t GREED.

I want to point this out to the mods. I didn’t set to attack him but I called into question his actions in a discussion like we all have. Sure it gets heated but we all move past it. Syndcate actually announced he was going after me before he did. What the fuck is up with his spastic mental ass. You can barely make one point in your argument before you go off on a tangent. You’re whole arguing base is this “I get where you’re coming from or I know its wrong but you don’t know that person”. You sound like a person who would apolgoize for a convicted criminal because we don’t know their life. I like you but shut the fuck up and think before you act.

I guess it is greed but who knows sometimes people sell their stuff on eBay because they need money for things like bills. What if they aren’t familiar with eBay and then when they realize their item isn’t selling for as much as they’d hoped they decided to pull the auction.

You selling weighed packs is greedy as well but so what. That’s business.

I really feel like you two are both arguing about who’s “wrong” is “better”

Yea so you saying stuff like “spastic mental ass” just puts every decent point you have made in the background, saying that is fucking unacceptable and you know that…

Damn guys, chill lol.

Yes it can be seen as greedy and so many other things. My selling weighed packs as weighed isn’t wrong. Ending an auction early using another system to help sellers when they make a mistake is. I get people need the money that’s not a valid excuse. If you needed at least a certain amount of money there are two options available, using a high minimum bid or a reserve. You can call both of us greedy but I’m not doing anything the wrong way. People sell hot packs in all other hobbies or open and sell weighed. It’s not just a Pokemon thing. Nor does everyone else doing it make it okay. You can have a moral objection to something but that doesn’t make it wrong.

if you choose to focus on that solely. It wasn’t needed but I put it in there because his original comments arent needed. He was going over the top to prove a point but he can’t even make one. His comments are erractic and after being the “angry one” he’s constantly trying to play moderator/peace Maker. There’s no reason or logic and barely a semblance of coherentness to his ramblings.

Please remember that on the OP i 100% agree with what you are saying, and I have no more preference to one of you or the other, but, if you really feel how you do about what syndicate has said… take it to pm, rise above it and ignore it, block him on forums, whatever, what should NOT be done is for you to preceede to name call etc. I mean this as a blanket statement for these seemingly increasing instances of two or three people just arguing for pages and pages of threads and not just towards you. As I have said if you honestly feel you are correct and they aren’t just ignore them if it’s going to make you say irrational things by replying. I came to this forum for mature discussion and to learn not to read these stupid Internet spats over fuck all.

I agree that it’s gone off quite a bit. I will move them towards PM and if it doesn’t work out I’ll just ignore/block.

I have locked this topic now.

Basically what Woolsuk said is correct. This is the sort of arguing we want to avoid and disallow on the forums.

This is an example for everbody. If you find yourself feeling like you are going to just name call and get all bent out of shape, then that is an indicator that perhaps you need to take step back and chill. Take a break and come back to articulate your thoughts without name calling.

Arguing is great if done respectfully and maturely.

Nobody is in trouble for this so don’t stress. But please consider what I have just said for the future.
