Base set Raichu would be my pick. This artwork instantly takes me back to my beginnings with Pokémon and makes me feel like I’m a kid again. There’s just something about it. It transports me back to the 90’s.
Pretty random but this card brings back some of my best memories collecting as a kid. Had never seen a Japanese card before and my cousin brought his binder from out of town and this was on the first page. Really sparked my interest to what all was out there.
Probably this one now.
So many memories connected to this card. I pulled it from a random booster during the Italy trip to Salerno and was so surprised because it was the first time i was seeing this art. It’s so fitting to that feeling and experience I had - just like Red on this card, looking at the map and locations and figuring out where to go. I remember putting it in my backpack, looking at the seashore and continue walking thinking “wow it’s like in those videogames”.
It’s my lucky card now!
I have stared at this card like a piece of art sitting in a museum. My favorite number one card of all time.
I love this pikachu for the same reasons, such a great picture.
For me it would have to be base set wartortle. This was the first card I owned, I found it on the street while walking to a family member’s house.
It’s gotta be the Primeape from Jungle for me. I remember being so happy I had just gotten a bunch of base set cards from some packs my parents bought me, and I ran down the street to my buddy’s house, only for him to show off some new Jungle stuff. He showed me his Primeape and I thought it was such a cool card, I think I traded like 3 non-holo rares for it (yes, probably not my best negotiation one was a Dugtrio, don’t remember the other two). It was also the first card I ever actually traded for, and I still have it in my personal collection binder
I always liked this one too.
Is this the collector chasing the always elusive birds? Or the collector admiring his trophies?
It all started out with No Symbol Scyther for me and has come to this now. I’m just waiting for a full art to happen. Hopefully one day.
That card is sick, I’ve never seen it before.
For me, it’s the Base Set 2 Charizard. I know Base 2 is definitely not a set people really love or gravitate to (both in the past and present), but it was the start of my Pokemon collecting journey as a kid. The first holo I ever pulled was a Base Set 2 Charizard. So for me, I feel it’s a special part of my collecting journey and I will always feel it represents the moment I became a collector of anything:
Oh man… YYEESSSS one of my fav as well
I was lucky enough to find both evolutions Legendary collection versions on Ebay and Grade it
Has to be Jabba the Muk. The card perfectly represents the feeling i have when trying to combine work, family life, friends, collecting and other hobbies to my very much too little amount of sleep
