For nostalgia Pokémon red as it was my first game.
For just a great game HG/SS and emerald. Those games just felt perfect

I remember being a youngster and getting HG/SS out of Japan before it released in the US. My friends thought I was straight out lying about there being a new Pokemon game out, was quite the focal point in my little friend group. The originals will always be my all time favorite, but those two carry a special place in my nostalgia heart because of that.

They’re really well done. I loved regular silver but I love the ds versions. Still the only games with multiple regions in the games

Yup Emerald is fantastic. I actually played it in on GBA recently and it stood the test of time. Easily my favorite Pokemon game.
