I have not sell much on eBay, just things that I don’t need totalizing only 5 sales. However, I came across already with some different type of buyers.
Those that got your package and don’t leave feedback or answer any of your messages
Those that were not at home to receive their package and just leave it sitting on the post office for pick up for weeks without answering to any of your “Your package is for pick up at your local Post Office”
Those that try to scam you
What do you do with each type? The one that does not leave feedback it’s fine, but those that ignore the postage and your messages with those who try to scam you, makes me worry when selling on eBay.
-If someone doesn’t leave feedback it’s not an issue, no news is good news.
-I don’t send messages unless I’ve received a message, it’s not necissary. Just do your job and assume others will do theirs, don’t micro manage your customers. If you do want to then don’t be bothered if they don’t respond.
-If someone doesn’t claim their package it’s no skin off my bones, the package will return to me or they will pick it up eventually.
-There’s not much scams that I haven’t dealt with, and non have gotten me. I don’t cancel orders, I don’t sends to contries that don’t have decent tracking systems, I don’t refund unless I have my items back in the condition I’ve sent them, and I don’t use money collecting systems that aren’t paypal/ebay/credit card protected. If there is a scam attempt, just beat the scam and ban the individual.
I stress out a bit because this is pretty new to me. And because I always add tracking I have the tendency to go follow them everyday to see if everything goes smooth. I hope this dissipate with time xD
Haha I used to be the same way when I started selling on eBay! When I first started selling; I would sell maybe one or two items per week (but then again, I did not have much listed either at that time) and I would check on the status of my packages every couple days until the item arrived to the buyer. I would also send follow-up messages to buyers requesting them to leave positive feedback for me once they received the item and were satisfied with everything. I’d also try my best to work with non-paying buyers - messaging them multiple times, allowing 1+ Weeks for payment…
After awhile, I started to learn the ins-and-outs of eBay - you will have buyers that do not leave feedback (sometimes never) and you will have people that do not provide payment - it’s just something you have to accept by selling on eBay (or any public platform really). I slowly stopped “caring” about these issues (and I guarantee you will too).
I’m now at the point where I package/mail multiple orders everyday. While I no longer follow tracking information, communicate with buyers in regards to them leaving me feedback, and/or put-up with non-paying buyers - I am still able to maintain 100% Feedback and DSR’s.
It’s fairly simple: answer any/all eBay Messages in a professional / timely manner (same goes with BO’s); package/mail and upload tracking information (when possible) within your specified handling-time (1-2 Days is Best); and set-up an automated feedback system where feedback is left once payment is received. Obviously, there’s more detail than that, but that’s generally all it takes to be successful in terms of buyers satisfaction.
dont sweat the feedback. It will accrue eventually. You do however want to worry about negative feedback. But if you follow the rules, all will be ok. Just use tracking as often as possible, infact everytime so you have a papertrail and people cant scam you, because you will lose everytime without it!
For feedback, you can’t really force a person to leave it lol. It is nice but not obligated. I don’t mind it. I have had multiple buyers come back even though they don’t leave feedback. Never been an issue.
People that are too “lazy” to go and get their card and feel it is my responsibility to call their post, get a block on my end. I mean, if you really wanted the card you would have incentive to go get it. Of course I’ve only have had this problem about 2 times. One to Canada where the buyer just would not work with me… and one to Argentina where the buyer didn’t want to pay fees…
I’ve rarely had any scammers luckily. But if they do try to scam me, I will notice it. 10 years on eBay and I’ve learned a lot. I am mostly concerned of non-paying buyers. They seem to be more and more day by day
