What do you collect?

I personally like the older Japanese Promos and the Pokemon from gen 1-3 as they hold the most nostalgia to me. I appreciate some of the newer generations and promos, but if I had to choose I would go with the older cards from the older generations.

If we talk about cards, I collect Japanese vintage cards, mostly ex and DP eras (they look better than eng imo) and I go with Chinese modern cards (they are just as good and much cheaper). Asian cards look more authentic to me.

But I also collected some vintage japanese keyboards before. Still own 7 or 8 keyboards (I don’t remember lol)

I have to ask for a raise first :new_moon_with_face: a good thing that the 200$ price limit i’ve set myself mentioned in another thread only applys to cards

I feel like my collection is too scattered to firmly pinpoint exactly what I collect. I collect whatever piques my interest at the time and I go through phases.

I like to flip through my binders all the time and then go down the rabbit hole of looking up cards I’m still missing and add them to my watchlists. Currently I’m in my raw singles set phase, focusing on gym - e-reader, with a dash of modern (XY- current in this case). Just today I picked up a holo Meganium from Expedition to add to the binder.

Japanese only:
carddass, anime, meiji, TOMY Scratch, topsun, sealdass
Base - Neo, anything not e-card format… (i just think they’re uggo)
so starting again in ~Gen 3 (ADV/PCG eras)
all the way to current.
The only english cards i have are the JR promo Eevee/Mewtwo but because they weren’t released in Japanese (and they were a Japanese release, if that makes any sense)
I consider Jpn cards to be more sentimental because i was a military brat in the late 90s in Japan and have been obsessed since.

I collect a bit of everything, but mainly wotc. I have some graded cards but am mostly a binder collector and enjoy completing sets. My one weakness is shadowless however and I am always picking up more of them whenever I see a good deal. I have 1st edition but there’s something I like about how clean shadowless looks. Living in Scotland we never had shadowless or 1st ed here so whenever a friend in the playground had any it was almost mystical and I have been obsessed ever since.

Base 1st Ed holos and ex era stuff. Plus WOTC eseries

I dabble in the rest obviously but it’s not really a collection goal. And they’re all English for the time being. I just don’t get any nostalgia from jpn cards

All Japanese. Rare and obscure promos, trainers/items/goods, energies, full arts, and beat up crystals and shining.

I think my collecting habits have evolved over time, which I suppose makes sense. I think the initial semi-cliché nostalgic draw brought me back to base set and some of the early english cards I loved (Southern Islands, Jungle, black star promos, etc.). Since then, I’ve grown much more interest in some of the more obscure and rarer cards. I’ve also really started to appreciate the world of early Japanese promos, I swear some of the best cards are sleepers in this category. Funny enough, I remember early on I also thought jumbo cards were kind of silly since they weren’t exactly “cards” and now I find myself liking a ton of the jumbos as well!

@joponnes You gonna crack it for the binder?

I collect Greninja becuase Charizards are too expensive and hard to get. Started as a side project, but ballooned into my main focus. I have focused it specifically towards the PSA Registry so I can limit myself from going off and getting all the hundreds of non-card merchandise out there.

I collect a variety. My primary enjoyment comes form old back Japanese promos, and mini sets like Vending, Masaki, Natta Wake and such. I have had much of it since BTPC (Before The Pokémon Company). I really enjoy Japanese promos and continue to collect them including modern cards. I also keep a master set of Tomokazu Komiya (my favorite artist) and recently Oswaldo Kanto. I have been collecting Stamped “place” (Top 32, 16 etc.) World’s promos, and sometimes find myself obsessed with the gaps in that set. Still missing a few early years (07,10) and the last few years. Currently, my most enjoyed, viewed and ever changing part of my collection is my 4’11 Pokémon! I love this small but mighty it group! I look at that binder quite a bit. Smiling just thinking about it.

Set collector. I enjoy completing a checklist and placing them in the binder. Something about those sheets being filled brings me way back! I typically have binders going for modern and at least 2 binders going for older sets. Slow and steady keeps me happy!
